Good to see the federal government adding some new flexibility for the Temporary Foreign Worker program, including allowing for a 2 year permit.
The program remains deeply scaled back, but these measures will help some employers in regions and sectors where Canadian workers are in short supply.

Carney’s immigration targets: 750,000 admissions a year.
His housing agency’s promise: 20,000 homes a year on average.
And he calls this affordability.
That’s 380,000 permanent resident admissions and 370,000 new temporary arrivals annually for 2027–2029. Permanent admissions include people already living here.
Build Canada Homes targets 200,000 homes over ten years.

Where’s the plan to make housing supply catch up?
Carney promised a budget focused on affordability.

Carney’s putting more than $32 BILLION into First Nations housing and infrastructure over ten years.
Taxpayers deserve more than another announcement. Show us what gets built, what it costs, and who answers when it doesn’t happen.
Budget 2026 includes:
▪️ $18.5 BILLION for on-reserve infrastructure over ten years.
▪️ $11 BILLION for core housing over ten years.
▪️ $1.7 BILLION to accelerate housing construction over five years.
All three start in 2027–28 and are included in the $32-billion commitment.
The $11-billion housing component supports maintaining 119,000 existing units, building more than 6,900 new homes and renovating more than 10,900 over a decade.
That’s the promise. Now where is the public scoreboard?
Community-by-community spending. Completed projects. Final costs. Missed deadlines. Accountability for failures.
And this is housing and infrastructure, not the entire Indigenous spending portfolio. Education, health, policing and child services have their own commitments.
Carney gets the announcement.
Taxpayers get the bill.
Communities deserve the results.
