The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus and the Cyprus–China Business Association, hosted the Cyprus–China Business Forum today in Nicosia.
Bringing together government officials, representatives of local authorities, institutional stakeholders and business leaders from Cyprus and China, the Forum provided a platform to strengthen bilateral economic relations, explore new trade and investment opportunities and foster partnerships between the two business communities.
Marking 55 years of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and China, the Forum built on the longstanding friendship between the two countries, highlighting the potential to translate these strong ties into tangible economic and commercial opportunities.
In his address, CCCI Secretary General, Mr @R_Philokypros emphasised the importance of strengthening business connections and encouraging Cypriot and Chinese companies to explore new markets, develop strategic partnerships and pursue opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. The CCCI continues to play an active role in facilitating business engagement and supporting closer economic relations between the two countries.
The importance of the longstanding relationship between Cyprus and China was also highlighted by H.E. Mr Yang Yundong @ChinaAmbCyprus, Ambassador of China to Cyprus, with particular emphasis on the potential to expand cooperation across trade, investment, tourism, education, culture and other areas of mutual interest. The Forum provided an opportunity to build on the foundations of bilateral friendship and identify new avenues for collaboration.
From the perspective of economic policy, Mr Kyriakos Iordanou @kiordanou, Permanent Secretary of the @cyMECI, addressed the importance of strengthening trade and investment relations and supporting businesses in expanding their international activities. Cyprus’ EU membership, strategic geographical position and connections with neighbouring markets offer significant potential for closer commercial engagement with China.
The business perspective was further reinforced by Mr Theo Parperis @TParperis President of the Cyprus–China Business Association, highlighting the importance of closer engagement between the two business communities. Stronger business networks, direct communication and the identification of shared commercial interests are essential to turning opportunities into concrete partnerships and creating lasting value for companies in both countries.
The Forum also benefited from the participation of representatives of Chinese municipalities and institutions, alongside representatives of Cypriot local authorities, Invest Cyprus and the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Their contributions broadened the discussion beyond traditional trade relations, highlighting the role of institutional cooperation and local partnerships in supporting economic development.
The role of cities in fostering innovation and sustainable development featured prominently. Mr Charalambos @Prountzos, Mayor of Nicosia, brought attention to the potential for cooperation in smart-city solutions, digital transformation, innovation and sustainable urban planning. Collaboration between Cypriot and Chinese cities can facilitate the exchange of expertise and open opportunities for innovative technologies and solutions that respond to the evolving needs of urban communities.
Representing local government at a national level, Mr @andreasvyras Andreas Vyras, Mayor of Larnaka and President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities, highlighted the importance of strengthening links between Cypriot and Chinese municipalities. Such partnerships can promote tourism, cultural exchange, knowledge-sharing and local economic development, while creating opportunities for business cooperation and investment.
Cyprus’ investment potential was another important dimension of the discussions. Mr @martannousis CEO of @InvestCyprus, highlighted the country’s position as an international business and investment destination, supported by its EU membership, strategic location, professional services and developing technology and innovation ecosystem. Closer engagement with Chinese investors and businesses can help attract investment, encourage knowledge transfer and establish partnerships that contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Discussions explored opportunities across a range of sectors, including renewable energy, electric mobility, advanced technologies, maritime and shipping, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and logistics. Smart-city development, innovation and sustainable growth were also identified as areas offering potential for closer cooperation.
A tangible outcome of the Forum was the signing of a cooperation agreement between @TopKinisis and Zhejiang Overseas (Ningbo) International Travel Service Co., Ltd., marking a practical step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism and creating new opportunities for collaboration in the sector.
The programme concluded with B2B networking meetings, enabling Cypriot and Chinese companies to establish direct contacts, exchange expertise and explore mutually beneficial business partnerships.
The CCCI remains committed to working closely with the Embassy of China, the Cyprus–China Business Association and its institutional partners to strengthen bilateral economic relations, facilitate business connections and support initiatives that translate shared opportunities into concrete commercial results.

Πάνω από 90 μελισσοκόμοι στο PLANBEE – Όταν η επιστήμη συναντά την πράξη🐝
Με εντυπωσιακή συμμετοχή, ενθουσιασμό και πραγματική δίψα για γνώση πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 17 Οκτωβρίου, στο Κέντρο Περιβαλλοντικής Εκπαίδευσης Σκαρίνου, το πρώτο εργαστήριο «Μελισσοκομία – από την επιστήμη στην πράξη», στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού έργου PLANBEE.
Περισσότεροι από 90 μελισσοκόμοι είχαν την ευκαιρία να εμπλουτίσουν τις γνώσεις τους, να ανταλλάξουν εμπειρίες και να ανακαλύψουν νέες πρακτικές για τη βελτίωση της μελισσοκομικής τους δραστηριότητας.
Με την καθοδήγηση του διακεκριμένου επιστήμονα και μελισσοκόμου Δρ. Αλέξανδρου Παπαχριστοφόρου, Επίκουρου Καθηγητή Εφαρμοσμένης Μελισσοκομίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας, οι συμμετέχοντες εξερεύνησαν τη βιολογία της μέλισσας, τις ασθένειες και την αντιμετώπισή τους, καθώς και αποτελεσματικές τεχνικές διαχείρισης των κυψελών.
Η επιστήμη έγινε πράξη. Ιδιαίτερο ενθουσιασμό προκάλεσε η χρήση εξειδικευμένων μικροσκοπίων, μέσα από τα οποία οι μελισσοκόμοι ανακάλυψαν από κοντά τον συναρπαστικό μικρόκοσμο της μέλισσας.
Αυτό είναι το PLANBEE. Να φέρνουμε τους μελισσοκόμους μας πιο κοντά στην επιστημονική γνώση, να τους προσφέρουμε πολύτιμες δεξιότητες και να στηρίζουμε την εξέλιξή τους. Ο ενθουσιασμός και η μεγάλη ανταπόκρισή τους είναι η μεγαλύτερη επιβράβευση της προσπάθειάς μας.

Το συνέδρɩο θα εξετάσεɩ την συμβολή της οɩκονομɩκής ανάλυσης σε όλα τα στάδɩα μɩας υπόθεσης ανταγωνɩσμού: από τη δɩαμόρφωση θεωρɩών ανταγωνɩστɩκής βλάβης, το σενάρɩο αντɩπαραδείγματος καɩ την αξɩολόγηση οɩκονομɩκών δεδομένων ενώπɩον των αρχών ανταγωνɩσμού, έως τον δɩκαστɩκό έλεγχο, την οɩκονομɩκή πραγματογνωμοσύνη καɩ την ποσοτɩκοποίηση της ζημίας σε αγωγές αποζημɩώσεων.

Το πρόγραμμα έχει εγκριθεί και επιχορηγείται από την Αρχή Ανάπτυξης Ανθρώπινου Δυναμικού Κύπρου (ΑνΑΔ).
Εκπαιδευτής του προγράμματος είναι ο Δρ. Μιχάλης Αγαθοκλέους.

On 15–16 October, the partners of @EcoSMEnergy Project met in Vienna for the latest project meeting to review progress, exchange experiences and coordinate the activities ahead.
The two Cypriot partners, the CCCI and the Cyprus Energy Agency @CyEnergyAgency joined partners from across Europe to contribute to the discussions and planning of the project’s upcoming activities.
EcoSMEnergy brings together organisations from across Europe with a common goal: to provide SMEs with practical knowledge, tools and support to help them better manage their energy use and improve their energy performance.
Through its participation, CCCI plays an active role in the development, transfer and long-term uptake of the project’s knowledge and results, with a particular focus on knowledge transfer, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and the sustainability and exploitation of project outcomes.
🔜 Over the coming months, work will focus on finalising the EcoSMEnergy Knowledge Transfer Handbook for energy auditors, trainers and business support organisations, preparing the upcoming Train-the-Trainers activity, organising stakeholder round tables on financing opportunities for SMEs, strengthening cooperation with relevant stakeholders, and supporting the monitoring of the long-term sustainability of project results.
