🔴 Déclaration du Collectif des Défenseurs Sahraouis des Droits Humains au Sahara Occidental (#CODESA) à l’occasion de la #JourneeDesNationsUnies 2026 La fidélité à la Charte des Nations Unies ne se mesure pas seulement au rappel de ses principes, mais à la mesure dans laquelle ils sont appliqués dans la réalité. À l’occasion de la Journée des Nations Unies, célébrée le 24 octobre de chaque année, le Collectif des défenseurs sahraouis des droits humains au #SaharaOccidental (CODESA) réaffirme les principes et les valeurs sur lesquels l’Organisation des Nations Unies a été fondée, au premier rang desquels figurent le respect des droits humains, l’égalité des droits entre les peuples et l’engagement à régler les différends par des moyens pacifiques, conformément aux principes de la Charte des Nations Unies. Tout en affirmant que le #droit_des_peuples à #l_autodétermination est un droit inhérent et un principe fondamental du droit international, il souligne la nécessité de respecter ce droit et d’en garantir l’exercice effectif, à l’abri de tout #deux_poids, #deux_mesures, afin que les peuples puissent déterminer librement leur avenir. 🔴 Statement by the Sahrawi Collective of Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara (#CODESA) on the occasion of #UnitedNationsDay 2026 ⚖️🌐 ** Commitment to the Charter of the United Nations 🇺🇳 is measured not merely by recalling its principles, but by the extent to which they are applied in practice** On the occasion of United Nations Day, observed on 24 October each year, the Sahrawi Collective of Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara (#CODESA) reaffirms the principles and values on which the United Nations was founded, foremost among them respect for human rights, equality of rights among peoples, and the commitment to settling disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations. While affirming that the #right_of_peoples to #self_determination is an inherent right and a fundamental principle of #international_law, it stresses the need to respect this right and ensure its effective exercise, without double standards, so that peoples may freely determine their future. In this context, it reiterates that the question of Western Sahara remains a decolonization issue, and that respect for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination requires enabling them to exercise this right freely, in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the relevant @UN resolutions. Rabat : 🔴Deuxième report du procès de quatre étudiants et prisonniers politiques sahraouis jusqu’au 13 novembre 2026 Le Tribunal de première instance de Rabat a reporté, pour la deuxième fois consécutive, le procès de quatre étudiants et prisonniers politiques sahraouis au 13 novembre 2026. Il s’agit de: #Salah_Eddine_Sabbar, #Ibrahim_Babit, #ElHussein_Chihab , #Mohamed_Lemrabet. Selon les informations dont dispose la défense, ce nouveau report est, une fois encore, dû au fait que le dossier n’est pas prêt. Le 16 octobre 2026, le tribunal avait déjà décidé de reporter le procès au 23 octobre de la même année pour le même motif. Cette affaire fait suite à l’arrestation des quatre personnes concernées, ainsi que de trois défenseurs sahraouis des droits humains, en raison de leur participation à un rassemblement de protestation organisé par les familles de prisonniers politiques sahraouis devant la délégation de l’administration pénitentiaire. Ce rassemblement visait à exprimer leur solidarité avec les #prisonniers_politiques_sahraouis en grève de la faim dans plusieurs prisons marocaines. Les trois défenseurs sahraouis des droits humains ont été remis en liberté après avoir comparu devant le procureur du Roi près le Tribunal de première instance. Se trata de #Salah_Eddine_Sabbar, #Ibrahim_Babit, #ElHussein_Chihab #Mohamed_Lemrabet. Según la información de que dispone la defensa, este nuevo aplazamiento se debe, una vez más, a que el expediente no está listo. El 16 de octubre de 2026, el tribunal ya había decidido aplazar el juicio hasta el 23 de octubre del mismo año por el mismo motivo. Rabat: 🔴 Second postponement of the trial of four Sahrawi students and political prisoners until 13 November 2026 The Rabat Court of First Instance has postponed, for the second consecutive time, the trial of four Sahrawi students and political prisoners until 13 November 2026. They are #Salah_Eddine_Sabbar, #Ibrahim_Babit, #ElHussein_Chihab , #Mohamed_Lemrabet. According to information available to the defence team, this further postponement is once again due to the case file not being ready. On 16 October 2026, the court had already decided to postpone the trial until 23 October of the same year for the same reason. The case stems from the arrest of the four individuals, along with three Sahrawi human rights defenders, in connection with their participation in a protest organised by the families of Sahrawi political prisoners outside the Delegation of the Prison Administration. 🔴 UN NUEVO CRIMEN DE GUERRA EN LA ZONA DE IQLIBAT AL-FOULA / #SÁHARAOCCIDENTAL ✔️ HECHOS : El 19 de octubre de 2026, el ejército de la fuerza de ocupación marroquí mató al ciudadano mauritano «Jeddou Ould Sidi Ould Mohamed El-Fadhil», tras un bombardeo de artillería dirigido contra un grupo de civiles que se dedican a la extracción de oro en la zona de Iqlibat al-Foula, al este del muro de división militar. 🔴 UN NOUVEAU CRIME DE GUERRE DANS LA ZONE D’IQLIBAT AL-FOULA / #saharaoccidental ✓ FAITS : Le 19 octobre 2026, l’armée de la puissance occupante marocaine a tué le citoyen mauritanien « Jeddou Ould Sidi Ould Mohamed El-Fadhil », à la suite d’un bombardement d’artillerie visant un groupe de civils exerçant des activités d’extraction d’or dans la zone d’Iqlibat al-Foula, à l’est du mur de division militaire. Selon les informations disponibles, ce groupe de civils a été bombardé alors qu’il se trouvait dans la zone, au moyen d’un obus d’artillerie de calibre 155 mm. ✓ CONDAMNATION ET EXIGENCE D’UNE ENQUÊTE La Commission pour la protection des civils sahraouis du Collectif des défenseurs sahraouis des droits humains au Sahara occidental (CODESA) exprime sa profonde condamnation de ce crime, qualifié de crime de guerre au regard du droit international humanitaire. ✔️ Elle considère que cet incident, à la lumière des précédents cas documentés de bombardements visant des zones où se trouvent des civils exerçant des activités de pastoralisme et d’extraction d’or, appelle une enquête sérieuse et indépendante des Nations Unies, visant à protéger les civils et à garantir leur droit de circuler et de rechercher des moyens de subsistance dignes. ✓ PROTECTION DES CIVILS ET LUTTE CONTRE L’IMPUNITÉ La Commission souligne également que ce crime ne doit pas être considéré isolément, indépendamment d’autres crimes de guerre similaires ayant coûté la vie à des civils et suscitant des inquiétudes croissantes quant à la sécurité des chercheurs d’or, des pasteurs et des autres civils au Sahara occidental. ✔️ La conduite d’enquêtes efficaces et transparentes, ainsi que l’obligation de rendre des comptes pour toute violation dont la commission serait établie, demeure une condition essentielle pour garantir le droit à la vie, prévenir la répétition de tels faits et mettre fin à l’impunité. 🔴 STATEMENT #CODESA Members Present the Organization’s Report and Human Rights Publications to Participants at the #Dakar_NGO_Forum As part of the participation of the Sahrawi civil society delegation in the proceedings of the NGO Forum, held in Dakar, the capital of #Senegal, from 8 to 10 October 2026, members of the Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara (CODESA) presented a range of the organization’s human rights publications to forum participants. The initiative aimed to raise awareness of the human rights situation in the occupied part of #WesternSahara and highlight the efforts undertaken in the fields of documentation and human rights advocacy. The publications presented included the report prepared by the organization entitled ⭐“Western Sahara : The Final Test of the Credibility of the United Nations System” ⭐ which addresses some of the grave crimes and human rights violations committed by the Moroccan occupying power during 50 years of occupation of Western Sahara. The presentation also included a range of human rights reports, documents and publications issued by the organization, most recently the human rights memorandum concerning Sahrawi political prisoners on hunger strike, and the need for continued human rights monitoring of their situation and intervention to protect their fundamental rights. The initiative was undertaken by CODESA members participating in the forum, namely #Ali_Salem_Tamek, President of the Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara (CODESA); #El_Bakai_ElArabi, member of the Executive Bureau; and #Salek_Babir, member of the Administrative Committee. Copies of the report and other human rights publications were also distributed to a number of participants, enabling them to review their contents and benefit from the information and documentation they provide concerning the question of Western Sahara and the human rights situation in the territory. This initiative forms part of CODESA’s efforts to broaden awareness of the Sahrawi question in its human rights dimension, strengthen the organization’s presence in international forums, and bring its reports and documentation to the attention of relevant organizations and bodies.
