Okay, since the news is already out: an RCE vulnerability in PHP core, CVSS 10.0. Further details are scheduled for release on October 20. Only PHP 8 will receive patches.

Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon!
It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix.
Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher.

Last week, my company @AwesomeMotive acquired a popular free WordPress plugin WP Crontrol.
My primary goal was to give this incredibly useful plugin a good home because we use it ourselves, and I have a lot of respect for John Blackbourn (original creator).
WP Crontrol will remain free forever.

Some nice updates coming in @WooCommerce 11.1! It's currently in Beta (do you test Betas?), due for release Sep 1st.
First, with much assistance from @SRHDesign and @MrBrianHaas, we have a built-in EU order withdrawal flow. When enabled (Advanced > Feature), shoppers can go to /my-account/withdraw-order/, send a request, and you (the merchant) get an email plus an inbox notification. A lot of EU stores have been figuring this out on their own, so I'm excited for it to be a core feature!
Next up are variation image galleries. This one's close to home - the very first plugin I made for Iconic was "Multiple Images per Variation" back in 2011. This has been needed as a core feature in WooCommerce for a long time! Enabled for all stores in 11.1.
A final notable feature - there's a REST refund preview, so you can check what a refund total will be before you apply it.
Performance-wise, variable products also make fewer repeated queries around attributes and prices, so big catalogues should feel quicker in the editor and on the product page.
