Throwing rocks at, shoving, and harassing Jewish students is not legitimate protest. We shared this video a year ago during the encampment to show what Jewish students were experiencing. Since then, the calls for violence have only grown more explicit.

We’re puzzled about why our friends @HebrewU have invited @Columbia prof Yinon Cohen to present at their conference when he is virulently anti-Zionist. There are so many other worthwhile Columbia faculty members to platform.
Cohen served as an encampment guard on campus, helping to bar Jewish and Israeli students from entry.

As Columbia faculty and staff, we are astonished. @Columbia declared “Zero Tolerance” for CUAD, yet its former lead negotiator is being welcomed at an approved campus event on Oct. 27. We hope Columbia will clarify whether that policy still stands.
The group that calls itself “CUAD" is not a recognized student group, or affiliated in any way with the University. There is no evidence that anyone currently in control of their account is a current Columbia student, staff, or faculty member. They are illegally using the Columbia name.

An open letter from Columbia faculty members in support of Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) was published in May 2024. The signatories (most of whom still work at the university) can be found here.

We loved celebrating Jewish life @Columbia with the completion of a new Torah dedicated for our friends at @ChabadColumbia and @Chabad
What a wonderful and joyous gathering for all of us!
Chabad at Columbia celebrated the completion of a new Torah scroll on Oct. 8. The scroll was completed at Earl Hall and then paraded to its new home at the Chabad house.

l've obtained a horrific Oct. 7 message distributed by the Columbia Law Students Human Rights Association on behalf of Columbia Law Students for Palestine, Muslim Law Students Association, and @NLGnews, shared by an appalled parent of a current @ColumbiaLaw Jewish student.
It is a disgrace to my cherished (two-time) alma mater that CLS's student human rights organization would violate the memory of the victims of Oct. 7 by distributing this message, which completely erases the day's actual victims, ignores the heinousness and brutality of the crimes against humanity and violations of human rights perpetrated by Hamas and its ilk, and instead defiles that solemn day to "honor all the martyrs"—including, it would seem, the PERPETRATORS of Oct. 7.
Students were also encouraged to wear keffiyehs to school on Oct. 7—in other words, to terrorize their Israeli and Jewish classmates with the symbol of the perpetrators of their people's rape and massacre.
This would be like student groups putting out a message on Juneteenth ignoring slavery, celebrating slaveowners, and encouraging fellow students to wear KKK hoods to school:
"From: Columbia Law Students Human Rights Association <[email protected]>
Date: Wed, Oct 7, 2026 at 5:39 PM
Subject: [HRA] Amplifying CLSP's Statement: We Will Not Look Away - 78 Years of the Palestinian Nakba
The Columbia Law Students Human Rights Association stands in support of and amplifies the statement issued today by CLSP, NLG, and MLSA...
Today, we honor all the martyrs in the last 78 years. Each martyr is a universe, someone loved and cherished. Gaza shows us that safety does not lie in silence but in our solidarity. Please wear your keffiyeh today in remembrance of the countless lives lost to the past three years of genocide.
In solidarity,
Columbia Law Students for Palestine Muslim Law Students Association
National Lawyers Guild"
No student who claims to care about human rights—or basic humanity-should continue to be a member of these groups following this disgraceful message. Nor should they continue to receive university or law school recognition or support.
@Columbia's official Oct. 7 event and memorial were beautiful. Things have been blessedly quiet on campus.
But this highjacking and besmirching of Oct. 7 cannot be allowed to pass without resounding criticism—and without consequences.

Grateful to @ColumbiaIIJS for its continued rigorous intellectual engagement with 10/7 and this historical moment. Thank you to @Rebecca_Kobrin for leading an important conversation with Jack Lew and @amoshochstein on how the Biden administration understood the war, from the urgency of the hostages to the limits of U.S. leverage and the need for a clear strategy. Thanks to co-sponsors @ColumbiaSIPA and @ColumbiaIGP , and to @ArnoRosenfeld of @Haaretzcom for the coverage. haaretz.com/us-news/2026-10-…
There are significantly more serious issues at @Columbia, like the ongoing use of the Hamas triangle symbol by students and the student who appeared at an event with PFLP leadership and is now a university senator. But instead everyone just wants to talk about pasta sauce.
Columbia University is facing fresh backlash after a campus dining menu appeared to list "October 7th Blush Sauce" on the third anniversary of the Hamas terror attacks on Israel.
The university insists it was an accidental formatting error, saying the date was mistakenly copied into the menu template and the signs were removed once staff noticed.
But critics on X aren't buying the explanation, with one calling it a "convenient mistake" as the university continues to face scrutiny over its handling of antisemitism on campus.

Columbia claims zero tolerance for terrorism or support for violence, yet students regularly display Hamas symbols on campus and glorify known terrorists with no consequences. That's not zero tolerance. Administrators think they can just turn a blind eye. It's disgraceful.
Yesterday at the Sundial, a vigil for "martyrs" took place with approval from @Columbia administrators. Among the photos displayed was one of Anas al-Sharif, the head of a Hamas terrorist cell responsible for advancing rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. The vigil also featured the red triangle, a symbol Hamas uses in its propaganda videos to mark targets for attack. Its use reveals the true intentions of those who displayed it.
We support students' rights to mourn the loss of innocent Palestinian life. But one of the most troubling trends to emerge on campus is the outright celebration of Hamas as "freedom fighters." Grieving the innocent and glorifying terrorists are not the same thing, and a university community should be able to tell the difference.
Some more examples: a student group showed a photo glorifying Oct. 7th last month. Sean Eren, who participated in the 2024 Resistance 101 event with PFLP leadership, was supposed to be banned from campus. Instead, he's a university senator. @Columbia's response: Silence.

We were honored to hear from Ilay David, brother of released hostage Evyatar David, and Natalie Sanandaji, Nova survivor, at a moving memorial gathering at @Columbia tonight. When we first met Ilay in summer 2024 at Hostage Square in Israel, he was advocating for his brother's release. To go from Hostage Square to Low Library, and to hear him speak now that Evyatar has been released, is an incredible change. Thank you to @cbhillel , @brcohen , @ChabadColumbia and the many student groups who helped bring this powerful evening together.
Today our @Columbia faculty and staff had the honor of meeting with Ilay David, brother of Evyatar David, who has been held hostage by Hamas in Gaza for 293 days. The pain that these family members experience every day is unimaginable. @bringhomenow

Protesters chant for intifada at October 7 rally outside Columbia University
You joined a protest on Oct. 8, 2023 celebrating the massacre. You defended that choice nearly three years later. You're not even capable of saying that the people murdered were Israeli. Your heart is not with us. You have repeatedly stood in support of violence against us.
Three years ago today, 1,100 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. My heart is with those who lost loved ones and felt the pain of that day.
What immediately followed was destruction on a scale this generation hasn’t seen in Israel's nearly 80 years of violent oppression of Palestinians — much of which was funded by American tax dollars. Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, including over 20,000 children. More than 175,000 Palestinians have been wounded. Thousands more are still missing under the rubble. Entire Palestinian family names have been wiped from the civil registry. The Israeli military has bombed hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, humanitarian aid distribution centers, and water systems. Nearly the entire population of Gaza has been driven from their homes and forced to live in tents that have also been bombed. Israel is subjecting Palestinian men, women, and children to systematic torture and collective starvation as a weapon of genocide. Israel has killed over 1,400 Palestinians since its so-called ceasefire. Our tax dollars are paying for these atrocities and unconditional support from both the Biden and Trump administrations have allowed them to continue.
Here in Uptown and the Bronx, our neighbors voted to invest in a politics of life: one where their tax dollars are used to invest in our babies at home, not in dropping bombs on babies abroad. If we are to build a politics of human dignity that disrupts cycles of violence, we must reckon with the reality of our own failure to intervene in decades of dispossession, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Every human life is precious, and we must start acting like it. As a Member of Congress, I will do everything in my power to build a foreign policy rooted in the safety, equality, and freedom of all people, including ending U.S. taxpayer funding for Israel’s war crimes, fighting for a full arms embargo, and for the Palestinian right of return.
