🚇 Transit update for the Columbia community:
The MTA has announced significant subway service changes on the 1 line beginning Saturday, October 24, to accommodate rehabilitation work taking place at the 125 St station. This work includes repairs to platforms and structural steel components at the station.
While the MTA is directing this work and determining the associated subway service changes, we recognize the impact these disruptions may have on our community. The University is increasing shuttle service to our Manhattanville campus during this period for Columbia affiliates.

🥂 Cheers to Nobel laureate Michael Woodford! Surrounded by family members, friends, students, President Jennifer L. Mnookin and University colleagues, as well as well-wishers, including fellow Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Martin Chalfie, Woodford had an important group to thank.
“A number of students of mine are here,” Woodford said with a smile. “A lot of what I have done has only been possible thanks to my students, because it was hard for me to work these things out except by trying to explain them to people and having students who are willing to put up with that. It is essential to the intellectual process, at least in my case. I've been gratified that many went on to have distinguished careers and I hope I have some responsibility for that, but, really, I'm grateful just to have had them as students. That's really been essential to me.”

“I offer my deepest congratulations to Michael Woodford on this tremendous honor. What a tribute to his groundbreaking work alongside Robert E. Hall that has fundamentally reshaped the theoretical foundations of stabilization policy and provided us with the tools to navigate economic upturns and downturns more effectively.” —Columbia University President Jennifer L. Mnookin.
