I’m talking about fuel subsidy, and the FX instability was always going to arrive as a result (there’s a limit to how much you can spend out of money you don’t have). That’s why the FG had proposed removing it as far back as under OBJ but could never quite do it because of political considerations.
And they are relevant because your tweet assumes that those decisions are merely a question of economic considerations and not political ones — which are, in my view, the far bigger nut to crack.
One can speak to any half literate economist in New York or Paris to propose “common sense policies”, but that says nothing about the political will to see it through.
Therefore, the backtracking of his main political opponents on this issue, given that they had all paid lip service to it previously, signals to me — a poor Nigerian pleb — that it is indeed a big deal. I hope you understand now.
Probably the most disappointing part of the 2027 elections for me has been not discussing increasing the minimum wage enough. Instead, oppo candidates leading retarded efforts to return to policies that will make even paying 70,000 minimum wage impossible for all govts

When we speak of prices you always speak of income….but there’s no world in which incomes rise when prices are artificially suppressed.

Èkìtì State has the 2nd highest life Expectancy in Nigeria after Cross River.
The data is there.
Absolutely.
My family relocated from Lagos to Ekiti after more than 20 years of living in Lagos, and it’s one of the best decisions they ever made.
After retirement, the buzz of the city became overwhelming. They needed cleaner air, less noise, and a calmer environment.
Their quality of life has improved significantly since then. No more spending long hours in traffic or constantly inhaling exhaust fumes.
They take walks, eat fresh fruit, and are generally happier and healthier.
Sometimes, people simply choose a slower life away from the city, and that’s perfectly okay.

Lmaoooo… You keep repeating “keyword: when I came into office” as though it is some magic phrase that automatically absolves him of administrative incompetence.
How does the fact that he didn’t build Anambra’s first state secretariat absolve him of the administrative incompetence being discussed? Are you suggesting they couldn’t procure printers because they were operating from rented offices? I’m genuinely trying to understand why you brought up the fact that he built Anambra’s first secretariat in this discussion.
An administrator who doesn’t understand that you cannot simply hand a government job to a vendor without following the procurement process, or casually give official documents to his personal printer for production, is displaying administrative incompetence in full glare.
Can’t you see it? There are certain things you do in public office that you simply don’t come out to advertise, regardless of the intention behind them, because the very act of presenting them as achievements only exposes the gaps in your administrative judgement. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is keep quiet about it.

Killing people over politics, and recording it, is pure foolishness.
In football, we call that an own goal.
So someone disrupts your rally, and your response is to kill?
Kill?
We don't even give law enforcement a licence to kill people who commit crimes.
We don't support jungle justice either.
Yet your answer to political disruption is to take lives?
That's an own goal, and it will destroy you.

No one is undecided about Voting Tinubu in 2026..You can’t change their minds..

You guys will learn politics..Seyi won’t see 20k votes in Lagos.
Very good. People in the comments should better note that this is not a religious war, this is basic decency.
Following a complaint by @BigDavery regarding noise pollution from a church, our officials conducted an investigation and confirmed that the church was in violation of environmental regulations and constituted a nuisance to residents in the area.
Consequently, the church, The All Christians Gathering Ministry, located at No. 1, Ishola Street, off Clegg, Surulere, was sealed this morning and will remain shut until further notice.
We will not tolerate environmental violations or any form of nuisance that disrupts the peace and well-being of residents. All religious institutions, businesses and other establishments are required to comply strictly with environmental regulations.
Our enforcement actions will remain firm and decisive. No individual or institution is above the law.

I've noticed the pattern: the mockery rotates from one South West state to another.
First it was the brown roofs of Ibadan. Then the bad roads in Ogun.
Now it's Ekiti people and how they voted.
And the biggest enablers are Yoruba people themselves, the "I'm Yoruba, but..." crowd.
Let's be clear:
1) Ekiti is doing better than most states on governance today.
2)Ekiti people are top tier: well educated, and arguably the most educated in the South West, if not all of Nigeria.
3) There is nothing you can mock Ekiti for that you won't find in other states and regions.
This is how stereotypes start, all in the name of politics.
Push back. Don't let it stick.

My big grouse here is that we’ve been in Nigeria for a long time, and this “unsustainable direction” has been followed for a long time by different parties under different presidents from different regions.
So saying “there is no big deal in what PBAT has done, really”, ESPECIALLY considering that all his opponents who agreed on these measures merely three years ago have ALL walked back their commitments due to political reasons, doesn’t seem right to me.
I honestly didn’t think too much of it too until Atiku walked back his promise of removing subsidy. That’s when I realized that there is indeed “a big deal” in following this path despite the political consequences.
If there was no big deal, anyone would have done it since 1999. In fact, I’m now realizing that of the people who promised to do it in 2023, he’s the only one who had the temperament to beat the political cost. I think that’s a very big deal.
It may not be extraordinary economic thinking (why would an IQ truther expect that from a Nigerian politician!), but in the context of the clusterfuck Nigeria has suffered, it’s a big deal.
There is no big deal in what PBAT has done, really.
Turkey is hardly a country we should be using as a benchmark for sound economic management. In fact, during the previous administration, it was one of the countries we frequently referenced when discussing how not to manage an economy.
Turkey's recurring currency crises were partly a consequence of its unorthodox monetary policy, particularly the decision to lower interest rates in the face of high inflation.
What PBAT has essentially done is reverse that policy direction. He has moved away from an approach that was clearly unsustainable. That is not necessarily some extraordinary economic feat. It is a return to a more conventional monetary policy framework.
And it should not surprise anyone that the subsequent FX market stabilisation has been supported significantly by foreign portfolio investment inflows, which are particularly sensitive to interest rate differentials and the returns available in the domestic market.

This is my best project out of all the projects commissioned by the President.
One of the things that attracts investors is security, and this infrastructure will improve the security of our state, emergency response times and the overall safety of lives and properties.
