The more I watch government function, the less of it I think we need. Mostly here to follow news and entertaining commentary.

In the General Social Survey, people in the bottom fifth of the IQ distribution made up nearly half of everyone who said they felt negatively toward Jews.
There are no intelligent anti-Semites.

Fellow Californians, we need to defeat Prop 40 and send a clear message. Voting in Hilton would make it even more clear. No more taxes. We're taxed enough.
NEW: Xavier Becerra tells me he's preparing a new tax on California's wealthy. He'll also seriously consider new fees for drivers and corporations and will likely remove the CEO of the embattled High-Speed Rail if elected governor of California. kcra.com/article/xavier-bece…

I have just (to my dismay) found out that sasquatch romance fiction is gaining popularity. On the one hand, that's weird to me. On the other, I think men with a lot of body hair maybe have a shot at romance now. Get yourselves a cabin in the woods, my hirsute brothers.

I have always voted my conscience. It has been many years since I considered a Democrat candidate, as they just don't align with my values.
"Worse, a remarkable number of the things Republicans had warned about seemed to be happening right in front of me. I had spent years dismissing those warnings because they came from Republicans. That was a deeply uncomfortable realization." There are a great many quotable lines in this excellent piece but one hit home. Some of you may or may not know that I grew up in a Democrat household in the South. I remember my last vote for a Democrat. I do not foresee ever casting another one. It would be nice if the GOP ever tried to earn my vote again.

Fascinatingly, Eric is describing my own journey. I reactivated this old account after some time away with the intention of just following news and politics, because you can't get the real, raw stories elsewhere like you can here. I had zero intention of getting into religion here. And then the LDSX community turned out to be amazing, and more interesting than the politics. I still follow those (and you've seen the posts), but now I focus a bit more on the spiritual here than I intended to. The result has been positive.
My evolution on X is interesting to me. I first logged on to follow the news and political commentary. I then discovered LDS twitter. I found saints from all over the world, and I absolutely loved it. I saw the hatred that they always faced, and I became a real “defender of the faith”. I would argue with people over doctrine. I would dispel false beliefs. It felt good to stand my ground and correct people. Then things changed. I grew tired of the same arguments over and over with different people, all who had already made up their mind about us, and all who used the same old sources they thought “proved” us wrong. I decided to focus on simply proclaiming what I know to be true. I decided to focus on lifting others up. I decided to be friends with people on here, to learn their stories, to give encouragement. This was a game changer. The spirit I felt was amazing. What I received in response was level of connection and peace I had never felt before. The blessings of seeking unity and spreading the light of Christ is the true source of happiness in this life.

I've tipped the Hat's selection with this morning's conversation, but Grok agreed (and it's fitting, as Harry's own preference helped the hat sort him. "The preference for clever, analytical approaches over confrontation shows up elsewhere in your posts: "Practical problem-solving (wondering about AI-powered communication platforms as Discord alternatives, commenting on game engines and technical ideas). "Thoughtful, evidence-focused takes on politics, policy, and current events rather than pure tribal shouting. Witty, low-drama style (“I always give really worked up people the last word… God endorsed trolling with kindness”). Curiosity about ideas, systems, and how things actually work, plus a bio that reflects watching government and concluding less of it is needed. "There’s some Hufflepuff loyalty and kindness (family-focused, quiet helping, fair-minded), and a Gryffindor willingness to act when principles require it, but the consistent through-line is the Ravenclaw emphasis on wit, wisdom, and finding smarter paths. The Hat would agree with your self-assessment."
Okay, I’ll bite… Your primary house: Gryffindor Your defining trait: courage, especially when it's hard. You strike me as someone who keeps getting back up, even when life has handed you some genuinely difficult things. You advocate fiercely for your daughter, speak up when something feels unjust, and aren't afraid to challenge people when you believe they're wrong. You also have a strong instinct to defend people who are being judged, misunderstood, or treated unfairly. That is very Gryffindor. Here's what really seals it for me: you don't have to be fearless to be brave. You can worry, overthink, feel awkward, or be scared of disappointing someone—and still show up and do the difficult thing anyway. That's a much more interesting kind of courage than simply being loud or bold. 🐍 Your secondary house: Slytherin Your hidden superpower: strategic determination. You are much more calculating—in the good sense—than people might initially realize. You think several steps ahead about your family's finances, housing, your daughter's education, and how to build a more secure future. You research, compare options, challenge systems, and look for a way through when the obvious route is blocked. You also have a strong independent streak. You don't automatically accept an answer just because someone in authority gave it to you. I don't see Slytherin in you as manipulation or ruthlessness. I see resourcefulness, self-preservation, ambition for your family's future, and the refusal to give up your agency. Your complete Hogwarts sorting Gryffindor — 50% Courage, conviction, loyalty, standing up for others. Slytherin — 30% Strategy, resilience, independence, determination. Ravenclaw — 15% Curiosity, analysis, creativity, wanting to understand the why. Hufflepuff — 5% Compassion, devotion, and a big heart for your people. Completely unofficial percentages, based on my read of your personality—not a canonical Hogwarts test. And before the Hufflepuffs come for me: I absolutely see your nurturing side. You care deeply about people, and you want to make things better for them. I just think your kindness comes with a sword in its hand when someone crosses a line. You also have that combination of humor, strong opinions, creativity, and a little bit of chaos that makes me suspect you'd be a very entertaining person to have in the Gryffindor common room. 😂 My final verdict: Gryffindor heart, Slytherin strategy, Ravenclaw brain, Hufflepuff loyalty.

Are we doers of the word instead of hearers only? It's fascinating that Paul, trying to help the Jews of the time learn that the gospel was not about dead works, like sacrifices and rituals alone, hammered grace so hard (it was necessary!) and James follows up with, "Get out there and live this gospel. Go serve one another. You can't attain exaltation this way, but it's still an important part of it."

Complex life emits methane. You do, too. Well, okay, ladies don't, but we men do. Loudly and proudly with our buddies. Now, our wives may well consider this a super pollutant, but the fact is it's completely natural, fun to make into little fire darts, and everybody thinks it sounds funny whether they admit it or not. The NYT is full of hot air, and it stinks.

Democrats often talk about bringing manufacturing back to the US. @PalmerLuckey is actually doing it.
BlueChip. Built in America. America made the first electronic computer to win a war. Now we depend on our greatest adversaries to build the computers that run our economy and defend our nation. Today, we bring it home.

When you mail ballots to everyone and legalize ballot harvesting, this is the result. Those ballots will be collected, fraudulently filled out and dropped off by Democrat ballot harvesters. California elections are less honest than Brazilian elections.
I was reliably told this never happens in California. It's an anomaly. Plus, can these ballots be in a more secure space than Skid Row? Hardly. Nevertheless, I'm sure that the Secretary of State and LA Registrar are all over it. (Just don't tell Sheriff Bianco...we don't want to give him any more ammo, know what I'm sayin?)

I have a question for all those people voting blue. Which part of the Democrat platform do you vote for? Is it guys in girls locker rooms, the end of Israel, Sharia law, no more police or jails, supporting illegal aliens and the cartels, more fentanyl on the streets, more fraud in blue states, more dismemberment of babies in the womb, higher taxes, more gun control, doing a way with the Trump accounts for kids or some other reason? Is it just because you were told Trump is bad?
