In the @NatalieGDiaz poem, "My Brother at 3am" the cyclical aspects of addiction are mirrored in the poem's form - a pantoum full of repeating lines.

If you like music. If you like poetry. If you like poetry about music, check out @adalimon's poem "Some of your Love with Me."
Also listen to Aretha Franklin's "Share Your Love with Me" youtube.com/watch?v=h2uLNfPq…
Count on @adalimon to find not one, not two, but THREE meanings for the word "speaker." @connormstratton and @JackRossiterMun marvel over the lines:
Me, I became the shaking
speaker, all my hairs like lung’s thin cilia
waving in a whir of song

All eps of Close Talking are headed to YouTube! Check out this one from early 2018 where @connormstratton and @JackRossiterMun discuss "Poplar Street" by @chenchenwrites. Humor, heartbreak, glorious use of colloquial voice, and much more.
Watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=9guLjWJL…
ALT Image of the title and first 12 lines of the poem Poplar Street by Chen Chen. Poplar Street By Chen Chen Oh. Sorry. Hello. Are you on your way to work, too? I was just taken aback by how you also have a briefcase, also small & brown. I was taken by how you seem, secretly, to love everything. Are you my new coworker? Oh. I see. No. Still, good to meet you. I’m trying out this thing where it’s good to meet people. Maybe, beyond briefcases, we have some things in common. I like jelly beans. I’m afraid of death. I’m afraid of farting, even around people I love. Do you think your mother loves you when you fart? Does your mother love you all the time? Have you ever doubted? I like that the street we’re on is named after a tree, when there are none, poplar or otherwise. I wonder if a tree

It has been real fun going through the @CloseTalking back catalog to prep episodes for YouTube. This poem by @adalimon is one of my all time favorites. Also if you haven't listened to Aretha Franklin's "Share Your Love With Me" lately, remedy that quick!

“People love to make big pronouncements about poetry saving us. And I want to believe that, but for now, what I can say is…poetry can make us feel. And right now, maybe that’s enough.”
Today’s poem is “The End of Poetry” by @adalimon bit.ly/3gYm7YI

Exciting times working on getting all the episodes of @CloseTalking up on YouTube! The sound quality in the early days was iffy, but the poems have always been top notch. Thinking of @connormstratton and the battles in Minneapolis while revisiting Urban Renewal for this vid.
Close Talking is on YouTube! We're starting uploads with our oldest episodes and bringing things right up to today. Maybe you missed some of our first eps? Since then we've improved our sound quality and our analysis but the poems have always been bangers.
