And I just proudly voted for James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin.
While itβs true that Ken Paxton is as corrupt and morally bankrupt as they come, Greg Abbott has decimated our public schools, Dan Patrick is bought and paid for by right-wing billionaires, and Bo French wears his racism on his sleeve, I didnβt just vote AGAINST candidates I know will do a bad job. I had the privilege of voting FOR candidates who will do a great job!
I originally connected with Jimmy Talarico many years ago (long before he got famous) and we became friends shortly after. Heβs the exact same guy in private as he is in publicβkindhearted, whip smart, hardworking, and very serious about following Jesusβ call to care for all people, especially the most vulnerable. Thatβs who heβs been in ministry, in the Texas Legislature, and I have no doubt thatβs who heβll be as a United States Senator too.
Iβve also gotten to speak with Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin this year. I believe they will fight for two things that are very important to my family and so many people in our church community:
1. An economy where every Texan can afford to have their basic needs met.
2. Fully funded public schools where all children can thrive.
Iβm not telling you who to vote for; Iβm just telling you who I chose to vote for and why.
We are in a critical moment in both the United States and Texas, so I hope you vote. And if you are a follower of Jesus, I hope you see your vote as a way to prioritize the way of Jesusβsacrificial love of neighbor and justice for those who have been marginalized.

On September 19, 2021 Ian Cranston and his fiancΓ©e were attacked while exiting a nightclub in Bend, Oregon after a black man became enraged when his sexual advances on Ianβs fiancΓ©e were rejected.
The attacker struck Ian in the head twice. Out of reasonable fear for his life and for the life of his fiancΓ©e Ian fired a single shot from his concealed handgun, killing the aggressor.
The anti-White judicial system sentenced Ian to 10 years in prison for the crime of defending himself while being White.
Under Oregon law, a person does not have a legal obligation to retreat before using justified deadly force in self-defense. That detail was intentionally withheld from the jury to ensure that the system would put him away.
The appellate court has deemed a retrial necessary because of this βerrorβ. Ian has posted bail and is currently free. His retrial starts today, October 20.
While Ianβs conviction being overturned was a good development, his persecution by our illegitimate occupation government is far from over.

It's believed he was shot in the early 1980s. He was in his 50βs when he was killed.
