Congratulations on getting this published! I recall it was a pleasure to highlight this work (at @preLights) when it was still a preprint
I'm excited to share our latest collaboration with @fidocklab using mixed alkyl/aryl phosphonates to identify possible drug targets in Plasmodium. Our work offers a possible method for deciphering important drug targets, mechanism of action, and mechanisms of resistance.

Happy for these two guys who just graduated last week. They started in the lab 2 days apart and finished 1 day apart. Congrats to @FrancoFaucher and @ChemBio_John. On to many more great things as PhDs.

@ChemBio_John & colleagues (from @mbogyo & @fidocklab) develop serine hydrolase inhibitors targeting plasmodium parasites.
Preprint highlighted by @goh_zhanghe. Includes an author response! 👀 ⬇️ prelights.biologists.com/hig…
Check out our latest work on Plasmodium with @fidocklab where we explored a novel set of mixed alkyl/aryl phsophonates as tool compounds to identify and probe essential lipid metabolizing serine hydrolases and pathways within the parasite.
Our latest collaboration with @fidocklab is out. PhD student @ChemBio_John found mixed aryl/alkyl phosphonates that target essential serine hydrolases in Plasmodium falciparum. They kill parasites with low overall induced resistance. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Congratulations @AmandaWigg_, thesis work now in press @NatureComms. Inspired by the structure of the hypothalamic hormone TRH (pyroglu-his-pro-amide), Amanda shows “capping” defines a chemical motif present in many previously unknown bioactive peptides

Really happy to have this work published. It's been great working with @mbogyo and @ChemBio_John on this project.
Check out our latest work targeting the malaria proteasome. Another outstanding collaboration with @fidocklab. Congrats to @ChemBio_John and the other authors! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Check our most recent work highlighting the importance of covalency in overcoming resistance! Really proud to get this work out and thank you to all of our collaborators!

Check out our latest work on how we have used covalent macrocyclic inhibitors of the malaria proteasome to combat the growth of resistance. Big shout-out to @fidocklab @RyanKMuir and everyone else who was a part of this story!
It's all about covalent inhibitors! See how covalent macrocycles that target the malaria proteasome can prevent resistance. Great work from the Bogyo lab @ChemBio_John in collaboration with @fidocklab.

So excited to finally be sharing this story!! Thank you to the many collaborators (including @taylorhnguyen in KC Huang's lab, the teams of @ajodonoghue, @MJNiphakis and Ami Bhatt, and my mentor @MLakeme) for helping me and @mbogyo bring this story to life!
Our first paper on our efforts mapping serine hydrolases in gut commensal bacteria is out. We identified a homolog of the human DPP4 protease in B. theta that is important for community fitness. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
