Let me de-sensationalize it a little bit: You can connect your AI to your bank account, either through a service or directly through the bank. You can give your agent a task to "monitor your transactions," but you might phrase it too broadly or not clearly enough. The agent can interpret it as full control over your account and start disputing transactions on your behalf. Banks are getting an overwhelming volume of dispute requests that they cannot process any other way than manually. And most of these requests are BS and agent hallucinations. So banks are adding guardrails. A bit uncomfortable for agents, but necessary to keep the service running for humans.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

Capitalism has effectively ended starvation.
How many Americans actually just straight-up starve to death? In the latest data, from 2024, there were 22 cases. And not even one of them was about poverty making it unaffordable to obtain food.

California hasn't built its bullet train because the state has required 130,000 pages of environmental reports, making absurd demands like: • counting bumblebees one by one • rebuilding woodrat stick huts • hiring specialized dogs to sniff lizard scat

In reality the "crisis" is people staying home and convincing themselves of this, when in the real world nothing is more affordable than going over to your friend's house and hanging out. slowboring.com/p/americans-n…
We CANNOT even afford hobbies. We CANNOT afford to go out with friends. We CANNOT afford to exist anywhere outside our homes. They then call it a mental health crisis. It's not. It's an affordability crisis.

The second largest trade union in France is calling for a general strike in November. We are broke and yields on French treasury bonds have been steadily rising for months, but they are demanding more spending across the board. I don't think we're going to make it to be honest.

If you got kidnapped today, the British Government would never do anything like this for you. Even if the SAS wanted to, the politicians would just dither in press conferences for years whilst you rot. Good luck to you, Bukele.
Pou chèf gang yo ak manm gang yo k ap kenbe kat konpatriyòt nou yo an otaj ann Ayiti: Mesye nou kidnape yo pa konbatan. Nou deja fini ak gang yo nan El Salvador, e nou kapab fini ak nou tou. Nou toujou gen tan pou evite sa. Remèt nou kat konpatriyòt nou yo vivan, san okenn mal, epi tout bagay ap retounen jan sa te ye anvan kidnaping lan. Desizyon an nan men nou.

SF Nimbys: "we don't have space for more homes, if we did...what about traffic!?" Developers: "ok, how about we put 5,000+ homes on top of an ugly railyard, rebuild the train terminal and add lots of shops". SF Nimbys: "f*ck"
One of San Francisco's largest redevelopment projects could completely transform nearly 19 acres of land near Downtown. Plans are moving forward for the redevelopment of the Caltrain Railyards at 4th and King in SoMa. The project could include: • Up to 5,834 apartments • Up to 5.6 million SF of commercial space • 160,000+ SF of retail • A completely rebuilt Caltrain station • More than 4 acres of public open space • Multiple skyscrapers reaching 350 to 600 feet • A potential 850-foot tower This land is currently occupied by railroad tracks, platforms, maintenance facilities and the existing Caltrain station. The proposal would modernize the transit infrastructure, relocate train storage and maintenance, and create an entirely new mixed-use neighborhood above and around the station. Thousands of people could be living, working, shopping and spending time in what is currently a massive rail yard. And all directly connected to one of the Bay Area's most important transit corridors. The project is now entering environmental review, with construction potentially starting in 2029 and taking 15 to 20 years to complete.... There's obviously a long road ahead, but I love seeing developers think this big about underutilized urban land. This could completely reshape SF. 📍San Francisco

Photo : Radio France.
