On Saturday, I went to a print shop close to my place to print some documents.⁣ A couple was ahead of me.⁣ The wife was going through a design on the computer, checking and rechecking.⁣ The husband stood beside her, calm, arms folded.⁣ The attendant asked, "How many copies of the flyer?"⁣ The wife said, "50 should be fine."⁣ Her husband said, "Print 200."⁣ She looked at him. "Babe, 200? Who will take all that?"⁣ He said, "You said 50 people will come to your event. I'm planning for 200."⁣ I was just standing there with my documents, listening.⁣ Out of curiosity, I asked what the event was.⁣ The wife told me she just started a small baking class for beginners. This was her first one. She was scared nobody would show up.⁣ Then she said, "my husband has been telling everybody at his office since the day I told him my idea. Before I even had a name for the class."⁣ Before she had a name.⁣ When they were leaving, he carried the flyers like they were gold.⁣ That conversation stayed with me for the rest of the day.⁣ People don't quit because the idea they had was bad, some quit because nobody around them has said, "Print 200."⁣ If you're building something right now, a business, a skill, a brand, a course, look at who is around you.⁣ Who prints 200 when you say 50?⁣ Keep that person very close.⁣ And if you don't have that person yet, be that person for someone else this week.⁣ Share this with someone who believes in you before those numbers became a reality.

Content marketing will teach you how to reach more people daily. Creating an offer will make people give you their money. I have done it for my clients. I have done it for myself severally. You can do it with your skill or niche.

Creating content everyday that is not reaching more people will make you think you're failing in life. It is very important you keep creating that content.

One thing about good content: It makes people ask the question you want them to ask. "How much?" "How do I get this?" "Do you offer this?" That is when you know the content is doing its job.

My VA grew from 115 followers to 17k followers in a day on her AI account. Two of her posts got over 20k likes and 300+ views. I was so excited when she shared the news with me. Then I asked her one simple question: “What do you plan to do next with this virality?” Just like many business owners who have experienced viral moments and made zero naira from them, she said nothing. I went to check the page, and I could clearly see why that attention would never convert into even one kobo. From her bio to her content, down to the backend framework, there was no clear path to money. People were seeing her content, but there was no strategy to take them from seeing her work to actually paying for it. She booked a session, and I’ll be sharing a bit of the framework we discussed. I call it the five layers of converting awareness into money. Inspired by 1 John 1:1-2, where the writer speaks about what was heard, seen, looked upon and handled. Here is how I apply that to marketing.

Stop sending this DM. “Hi sir/ma, I’m a social media manager. I help businesses grow. Are you looking for one?” Please. 😭 You haven't given them a reason to care. Try: “I noticed your page gets engagement, but your posts aren't really giving people a reason to take the next step. I have 2 ideas that could help. Want me to send them?” Observation → value → conversation. Much better than “Hi sir/ma.”

There’s a passage in the Bible that says “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” I don’t think people get it… Understanding the times and seasons you’re in can tell you what to do, what skills to learn, and what direction to take. It’s one of the things that keeps you relevant in every season. My prayer for you is may God give us the wisdom to understand our times and know exactly what to do. Amen🙏🏽❤️ Good morning

Learn how people think. Learn how to write it down. Learn how to sell it. Learn how to make them say yes. Learn how to position it. Learn how to negotiate your worth. Learn how to walk into a room and own it. Learn how to connect the dots faster than everyone else. These are not soft skills. These are the skills you need to quote a higher price.

Month 1 of posting: 10 views. Month 3: one viral post that took me from 30 followers to 100. Month 6: a founder DMs me saying "I've been watching your page for a while." They're always watching before they're hiring. Don't stop showing up because the empty DMs. Quiet DMs are full of lurkers with budgets.

Tech isn't just one skill. It's an industry with many different career paths. One of the first decisions you'll need to make when starting a career in tech is choosing an area to focus on. Each career path requires you to learn different skills and tools, so trying to learn a little bit of everything can leave you feeling confused and make it harder to make real progress. Instead, choose one area and make it your focus. Whether it's cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analysis, software engineering, UI/UX design, or any other field, give yourself enough time to understand it before moving on to something else. The area you choose will guide the courses you take, the projects you build, the certifications you pursue, the skills you develop, and even the jobs you apply for. If you're not sure where to start, spend some time researching different areas in tech. Look at the demand for the skill, the type of work involved, the opportunities available, and whether it's something you can see yourself doing long term. You don't have to learn every area in tech to build a successful career. Becoming really good at one area can take you much further than trying to learn everything at once. Growth in tech doesn't come from trying to learn everything. It comes from choosing a direction, staying focused, and continuing to build your knowledge in that area.

I've worked on marketing projects worth over ₦4 million in a month for a brand with more than 30 million users across Europe this year. I have a seven-figure contract on the side. I've also worked on products like Webtoon, a platform with over 100 million users globally. Just last month, a company with more than 150 million users reached out and wanted to get on a call with me. This year I took a job of 200k too lmao 🤣 Now here's the question. Does any of that mean I should reject a ₦200k project because I've handled bigger ones? No. If the project fits my schedule, the expectations are clear, and the scope matches the budget, I'm taking it. I'm not leaving money on the table because you lot on here says I should. That's why I find the pricing conversations on this app interesting. Some people speak as if every freelancer wakes up to five inbound clients every week. That's simply not reality. Some people haven't landed a client in six months. Half the year is already gone. Bills don't stop because you're waiting for the "perfect" client. If someone gets a ₦150k or ₦200k website project they can confidently deliver, why should they reject it? There has never been one universal price in tech. Never. From the beginning of freelancing, people have charged different rates based on their experience, location, network, demand, portfolio, confidence, and financial situation. A beginner with three projects in their portfolio cannot price the same way as someone with ten years of experience. Someone with no clients for months will negotiate differently from someone turning down projects every week. Neither person is wrong. Pricing is contextual. Lower pricing has always existed. It is one of the oldest customer acquisition strategies in business. Now, should you underprice yourself forever? Absolutely not. As your skills improve, your portfolio grows, your reputation strengthens, and demand increases, your prices should increase too. That's how sustainable freelancing works. But expecting everyone to charge premium rates regardless of their experience or circumstances is disconnected from reality. If you've built a personal brand where clients happily pay premium prices, congratulations. You earned that position. Keep charging what you're worth. Instead of attacking people for what they charge, teach them how to increase their value, negotiate better, find higher-paying clients, and eventually raise their rates.
Lmao, the Nigerian tech space will make you feel like you're not doing enough just because some of the clients you land have smaller budgets, as if you control what every client can afford. What's funny is that I rarely see anyone actually teaching newbies how to price their services. Most of the time, it's just complaints and people saying, "You're charging too low." Sometimes it feels like people expect everyone to be living the exact same reality they are.

I don't share stories like this often, but this one is worth your attention. Meet Adisa Blessing Oluwafikayo. First-Class graduate in Mathematics from UNILORIN, CGPA 4.76/5.0. This is no small feat, she put in so much to get here. She earned a fully funded Master's scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy. Tuition, accommodation, meals, and stipend all covered. This is the kind of opportunity that can change a family's story for good, for life. She has already paid her enrollment fee. She used her tutoring savings and borrowed from friends to get this far. What she needs now is €3,122 (about ₦4.9 million) to cover her visa, flight, document processing, and initial settlement in Italy. The scholarship does not cover this part, and without it, she cannot travel to start what she has already earned. This is someone who did the work and is one step away from the finish line. If you can support her, even a small amount helps. If you cannot, a share costs nothing and might reach someone who can 🙏🏾
Help Make My Scholarship Dream Come True 🙏 I'm Adisa Blessing Oluwafikayo, a First-Class Mathematics graduate (CGPA: 4.76/5.0) from UNILORIN. I'm happy to have been awarded a fully funded Master's scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy.
