Rain gardens work with the natural flow of water runoff on your property to have well placed plants absorb and use the water. Rain gardens made of native plants can absorb more water than your lawn, which then goes on to recharge groundwater sources. #RainGarden

Check it before you wreck it. Your septic tank needs regular inspections every 1-3 years to avoid malfunctions and leaks that can pollute nearby waterways. #BeSepticSmart

Lawn chemical runoff contains pollutants that may contaminate drinking water supplies and are toxic to humans and aquatic organisms. Consider using organic fertilizers and pest control methods! 🌱 DON’T overwater after fertilizing. 🌱 DON’T fertilize right before it rains.
#DidYouKnow Some toxic chemicals that wind up in our waters are not attached to sediment. Concrete washout is a significant pollutant from construction sites. Pollution prevention and good housekeeping measures can minimize the effects of these pollutants: ow.ly/uGUW50HUAT9
Once sediment reaches our waterways, it can degrade water quality. The @EPA Construction General Permit (CGP) requires operators to preserve native topsoil on site unless infeasible and protect all soil storage piles from run-on and runoff. 2022 CGP: ow.ly/r8TW50Ge7aq
During a snowstorm, go easy on the salt! Excess salinity from salt and other chemical deicers can damage vegetation, pollute stormwater runoff, and wash harmful chemicals down the storm drain and into our streams. Apply deicers early and sparingly. A little goes a long way!
