💔 RIP Glen Hansard. We have lost a sublime talent and one of Ireland’s most significant singer-songwriters. It is heartbreaking.
A proud son of Ballymun. Frontman of The Frames. Gifted solo artist. Oscar Winner. Passionate supporter of Ireland’s busking scene. Champion of the homeless.
Glen left an unforgettable mark on the Irish music scene. He was gifted, poetic, connected and he really cared.
Glen will be missed so deeply. His legacy will be treasured.

My thoughts are with Maire and their young son, Glen’s family and wide circle of friends, his fans and all who loved this wonderful man and artist.

Final thought on The Final. An hour after the final whistle, I passed this lady, and just asked if she was ok as Croke Park began to empty. She was ok, she was in happy shock, and was thinking of all those who’d not made it through the years to witness Mayo winning. My word #mayo

The closing set for this year's @BylineTimes' @BylineFest at WOMAD - led the truly wonderful "Nothing But Love" team - was a joyous introduction to fighting back through music and dance and unity.

Great weekend as WOMAD returned and with new venue at Neston Park. Much great music. Delighted with Byline Times curated World of Words tent. 40 years since my first WOMAD which was also the first of many I reviewed for The Observer. @BylineTimes @WOMAD @ObserverUK
