The idea of people from a working class background and real deprivation being cultivated to the very heights of grace and culture like Patrick Stewart was a great achievement of the 20th century, and almost lost now in many places. The Anglosphere ruling classes did everything they could to stop this and replace it with a global neo-caste system of bloodless strivers and nepo babies.
my tiny contribution to patrick stewart discourse is i read the beginning of his memoir in a bookstore (which is good and afaict was not ghostwritten) and he talks about how he grew up in a working-class english town so poor it didn't even have running water or something, and there's something poetic about someone who grew up like that becoming the, y'know, captain of a starship
