Cold weather, no problem. Got some early full approaches in Thursday 💪 (I’m still getting used to this Michigan weather as a Cali native lol)

I see a lot of coaches complain about what they DON'T have. Never bothered me. No track, no locker room, never fully funded. I make the best of what I have, control what I can control, and COACH MY ATHLETES. END OF DISCUSSION!

If I was an Athlete who needed to get faster here’s what I would do… 1. Sprint 2x Weekly. 3-5 reps 15-30yds. Time each rep, rest well between sets. 2. Jump with Load 2x a week. Ideally 10-25% of Squat 1RM 3. Increase my Squat and Deadlift relative to my Bodyweight. 4. Train my Feet and Ankles with a variety of ISOs and Plyos 5. Sleep 8-10 Hours each night 6. Track every training session, be intentional with progression. 7. Step on a scale daily. Adjust food and fluids around my goals. 8. Be patient!

Getting stronger is: 10% programming 10% coaching 80% showing up and doing the work consistently for months There's no shortcut

Somewhere there is a track athlete out there who has potential, passes the eye test, and put up good (not great) numbers. They wonder why their recruitment is slow, not realizing it’s because of their coach. In recruiting, college coaches do pay attention to a programs history of producing productive athletes at the college level.

If you want to get faster: 1) Sprint + plyo work 2-3x/wk 2) Lift after you sprint, not before 3) Honor recovery days between 4) Stop doing more for the sake of more 5) Live like your goals matter It really is that simple. Not easy. Simple.

Am I wrong for immediately dismissing any opinion someone who’s never been involved in sports has about sports🤔? Example: someone speaking on football or track despite having zero understanding of the sport on a fundamental level🤷

Football might have it worse than track in that instance but my question still stands lol

Senior Track Athletes‼️ Have offers on the table? Coaches want YOU now? TAKE ADVANTAGE! 🚨 Don’t listen to “wait, run faster, you’ll get more money.” Offers aren’t guaranteed to improve. Money can disappear. Schools move on. Don’t get caught up in the hype! 💯 🫡🫡🫡

You really could just program 3 reps for everything you do and be fine. Heavy 3’s for strength. 3’s for power. 10x3 for hypertrophy. 3 reps for all jumps. 3 sprints. When in doubt, guess three and use Prilepin’s chart to double check how much volume you need at that intensity.

So sick of College Gameday and the little jabs they take at the rest of College Football. Pat McAfee: “I’m taking Sacramento State over Bowling Green, I know nothing about either of these teams!” Herbstreit: “Fresno State over Boise State. Is this a conference game? Oh yeah, PAC 12 I think.” Your job is literally to be the experts on ALL of college football, not just the SEC.

Don’t have a whole lot of social media worthy LJ drills, we just do copious amounts of short approach and gradually move the approach distance back. The magic is in the quality of the session and/or the learning that takes place.

It doesn’t matter if the school you get coach at is: • D1 • D2 • D3 • NAIA • JUCO All you need is a chance to coach and make a positive impact on young people.
It doesn’t matter if the school you get offered by is: • D1 • D2 • D3 • NAIA • JUCO All you need is a chance to play and get an education.
