@ussoccer strongly supports the proposed new model for D1 men’s college soccer. Given ongoing debate, we wanted to share why this matters, how we engaged in the process, how feedback/concerns influenced the final model, and what happens next. Here’s to growing the game together.

Scott's comment is EXACTLY why new model is needed. Dec. Men's Col.Cup is BURIED beneath the CFP race, college hoops, other NCAA champs.
Mens's College Cup in early May is MASSIVE stand alone visibility opp. for deserving @NCAA stu-ath at all levels!

The soccer proposal is not being portrayed accurately. Most importantly, the students want it.
The five spring contests are already in your budget: officials, trainers, turf, and travel. Rescinding the proposal doesn't save that money; it just means you spend it with nothing to show for it.
What the revised proposal actually requires is a minimum of three spring contests for postseason eligibility. Three. Not five, not ten. Schools are currently permitted five exhibition matches each spring, so three is fewer than programs already schedule.
Conferences can still hold their championships in the fall for the automatic bid. The only new pieces are a May national championship and one 15-day transfer window.
That's the whole trade: the same spring costs, with real upside. This is the accurate information. Rescinding the proposal makes no sense, either for the athletes or for the budget.

It is a flex model. Play 5 games in the spring in you want. The teams are doing it anyway. Change when made and accepted is good. For those that do the research you will know cost less, No preseason food, housing, no post season housing food. More time off for SA and SS.

Well, there you have it.
Wake Forest can afford it in North Carolina.
So every other D1 team should be forced to absorb the changes. Doesn’t matter if they are in the snow belt of the north or if they have less resources.
In 2026 is it called athletic communications. This alone shows how things have changed. My athletic communications director does 2 sports / secondary for another and he is asking what else we can do to promote the proposal.
My trainer gets summer and Dec off. NCAA is for the SAs

Great quote from Carlos Samoano in support of the changes for the men’s college soccer calendar.

The schools that don’t sponsor men’s soccer need to worry about who and what they support, not men’s soccer.
Put the student-athletes first.
