HOT TAKE:
You can be a great coach and still have a losing season.
You can be a poor coach and win a championship.
The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story.

• Did not play on a major circuit in High School
• Did not commit to a traditional one and done factory in college
• Wasn’t promised a starting role, playing time, or a set amount of shots by Kelvin Sampson
He ran to the hard and now is in the NBA

You hear this phrase a lot “my kid is losing confidence” anytime their kid is in a challenging spot in sports…
You know how you become confident?? Overcoming challenges and making the once challenging environment the norm.
Throw your kids to the wolves and let them struggle. And outside of that obsess over the work.

Many parents will say they want a coach who holds their child accountable…
Until the coach holds some of their children accountable.
Then we need a meeting, two administrators, game film, witness statements, and possibly congressional oversight.

Here’s the thing… The crazy thing about development is people judge you while you’re still BECOMING…
They see what you are today.
They don’t see what you’re building. They don’t know what’s about to come… They just see today. And that’s why most lose at this development game

TREY PINKARD — D1 LEVEL PLAYMAKER
One World Academy | OTR Fall Shootout
We've seen Trey Pinkard before, and we already know he can get buckets. But after carefully analyzing his game throughout the OTR weekend, another part of his game really stood out.
Trey has a unique ability to score, but he can also run an offense when you put high level talent around him. We saw him consistently make the right pass at the right time, setting teammates up for easy buckets possession after possession.
Whether it was a dime or a hockey assist, Trey showed that he understands how to read an offense and make winning plays.
That ability should translate to the D1 level. He's one of the top collegiate prospects in Houston and continues to draw attention from D1 programs.
SCORE. CREATE. RUN THE OFFENSE.

COACHES: John Wooden didn't win a National Championship until his 16th year at UCLA. Don't give up. Don't get frustrated. Have a positive vision and stay committed to the process. Stay the course. Continue to be a positive leader.

Everyone’s story is different, and this is a part of mine. This may not be the chapter I wanted, but my story is far from over. This is just another step in my journey, and I know the comeback will make every challenge worth it. I’ll be back!

Pre-season conditioning, is not just about getting in shape. It’s about seeing who will fight thru adversity. Who fight or flee during tough times. And will the team stay together. It’s more than just a mile time.
