Exciting opening win for Iona over Vermont. Iona gets bucket w/ less than second left for win!
This is different Iona team from last year - more gritty, tough & better defensively!
2 stars for Iona: Kevon Vanderhorst with winning shot & 27 pts & Kosy Akametu w/ 18 pts! GO GAELS!

Watched Western Carolina at UNC for Mike Malone debut. UNC got 80-72 win but Tar Heels need work!
- Out-rebounded 41-32 (WC got 13 Off Rebs). They spent $20 million on UNC - can't happen vs mid-major.
- Not great from 3 (9 for 30, 30%) & not enough attacking rim.
- D was shaky.

An elite offense meets an elite defense for a historic season opener ⚖️!
Purdue finished No. 2 nationally in offensive efficiency last season, while Gonzaga ranked No. 1 in defensive efficiency.
It’s the first time this century teams coming off top-two finishes in those respective categories meet to start the season.

FEATURE: Meet Quinn Ellis, the St John’s point guard Rick Pitino can’t stop raving about. He comes from British basketball royalty and was basically raised around the sport.
“He sees things that most players don't see.”

The 24 Hour Marathon is never going to be what it was back in the day where you have on campus games going on all day. That said, have to give credit to the teams and the Field of 68 for putting on this version with so many good Mid Major matchups throughout the day.

A new era of Bona hoops is here. Mike MacDonald makes his official debut as head coach Monday as the Bonnies host Youngstown State to open 2026-27.
SBU leads the series 7-1 and have won five straight, including an 84-80 win at the Reilly Center last season.

Kevin Willard must be really pissed - big game to open the season in Rome and his Wildcats turn the ball over 20 times and blow a game they led 83% of time. ND got 20 points off turnovers.
But give ND credit, they were scappy and toughed out a nice win.

What a start to the season for Micah Shrewsberry and the Fighting Irish. Didn't lead in second half until 68 seconds left, trailed by as many as 10. The much-anticipated breakout season from Brady Koehler coming to fruition: 16 PTS, 8 REBS.
