“They’re funding war, they’re funding the police, but not schools.”
On Thursday, 1.6 million people across France mobilized for a nationwide general strike.
BT spoke to French youth, who are leading way, on why they’re rising up against austerity.

The Bronx mobilized to demand accountability for Javits Frimpong, the 15-year-old Ghanaian teen fatally shot on way to school last Thursday.
Frimpong’s father said that he believes his son’s shooting was tied to bullying, and investigators are searching for three teenage boys in connection to the shooting.
Speakers at the rally slammed the continual funding of ICE while critical programs like Medicaid were under threat. Bronx community activists instead demanded more funding for schools and afterschool programs, along with resources put toward health care and ending homelessness to tackle the crisis of gun violence.

Eiji Aonuma says there are three different styles of Zelda:
"What's most important for me is that although you have several different kinds of styles for Zelda games…
You can have the open-air style of games where you have a higher degree of freedom. You can have games that are a bit more like Ocarina, where the focus is on a different kind of narrative pace and the growth of the player. Or you can have the top-down view like the 2D Zelda games. And each one has its own strengths and its own charms, but they all come back to that cycle of exploration and discovery.
And the goal for us as developers is, every time we are approaching one of these, we have to think about, 'Okay, how are we going to make this a fun, enjoyable experience for the player?'"

Fox News finally says out loud what the whole country already knew — that U.S. military aid to Israel is just a money-laundering scheme for U.S. military contractors.
The same can be said for Ukraine and most other U.S. aid packages, but they won’t go there. We will: LiberationNews.org

🚩PSL Statement –– Tens of millions voted to punish Trump over inequality, war and ICE terror. The new Congress will deliver nothing on those issues unless it is forced to.

“We should not be carried away with a sense of pure euphoria.”
Each time the Democrats win control of Congress, we get a raft of promises — student debt relief, universal health care, climate legislation — with none delivered.
BT’s Ben Becker warns that while satisfaction at watching Republicans lose is warranted, irrational hope in what Democrats will achieve risks repeating the cycle and leading to the return of Trumpism – or something even worse.

Feels very distasteful to me to use the victims of ICE violence as a justification to vote for a party that has openly supported ICE for years and which has no actual intention of dismantling the agency

PSL candidate just got elected to the San Francisco school board ☭
A socialist just WON a seat on the South San Francisco school board! We led from the very first count last night. Working families in Area E of SSFUSD gave us 6 of every 10 votes counted so far!
Parents, educators and young people voted for smaller classes, real help for kids learning English, and safe schools for every family. No ICE in our classrooms without a judge’s warrant. A socialist program for our schools!
This is a historic win for the Peace and Freedom Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and independent socialism in the Bay Area. When working people got the chance to vote for socialist solutions in our schools, outside the two-party system, we took it.
We ran an openly socialist campaign. Dozens of Peace and Freedom Party volunteers, almost all of them young, built a serious field plan and carried it out. They made thousands of calls and knocked on doors across Area E. By winning here in South San Francisco, we showed that socialism and the Peace and Freedom Party can win. And we are just getting started!
Our kids can’t wait. Socialists get the job done.

The midterms may be over. But the real fight has just begun.
From day one, we said this movement is here to stay.
I’m calling on everyone in the BX and beyond: my neighbors, my current and former students, my community: If you were at all moved by our movement for free healthcare, free childcare, fully funded schools, brand new public housing, now is the time to recommit yourself to the movement for socialism.

"The vote is a recognition of the courage and resilience of Cuban people."
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated the UN General Assembly vote on Wednesday to condemn the US blockade, saying the 130 countries that backed Cuba’s resolution represent “recognition of the courage, heroism, and creative resistance” of the Cuban people. He also said the result was a defeat for the “arrogant and vulgar imperialist regime.”
This year’s vote followed an aggressive pressure campaign by UN Ambassador Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with Cuba accusing Washington of threatening countries with tariffs and visa restrictions to change their votes. The day before the vote Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez confronted Waltz on the podium and called him a liar, after Waltz accused Cuban leadership of corruption and denied that the US imposes a blockade on the island.
The non-binding resolution, adopted annually since 1992, passed with 130 in favor, 17 against, and 25 abstentions. Another 21 countries didn’t vote.

Across the board, tens of millions went to the polls to politically punish Trump, and they succeeded. But they were also dreaming of peace, justice and good jobs — a dream that the capitalist system will not deliver.

🇫🇷 The PSL is on the ground for the French general strike! We had the pleasure of speaking with Saint-Denis mayor Bally Bagayoko, who has been in the streets with French students throughout the ongoing struggle.
✊🏾 We send our solidarity to French students and workers as we commit to building the movement for socialist revolution here in the United States!
