Hopefully this continues until there is no more refining capacity left in Russia. So much for Putin’s attempt to get Trump to stop this with bluster
Continuing to burn throughout the day, Russia's 11 syllabled LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery - the 2nd largest gasoline producer in the country - now confirmed to be totally out of commission, having suffered precision strikes in its key processing units. With the US no longer standing in the way, Putin's oil industry is doomed.

Kemi Badenoch, "6 million people are on out of work benefits. That cannot be right" My view: Who are they? People with serious illnesses or disabilities. Carers. Parents looking after young children. People who have lost their jobs or are trying to find work. “On out-of-work benefits” describes people in very different circumstances. It does not tell us that they are lazy, exploiting the system or choosing not to work. DWP itself says people may claim out-of-work benefits because of unemployment, ill health or disability, or caring responsibilities. So when you point to six million people and say “that cannot be right”, you risk turning a complicated set of problems into a charge against the people caught up in them.

Musk being able to give all these millions of dollars to trump and other Republican politicians running for office is the direct result of Citizen United- the worst SCOTUS decision ever- or at least the top 5 worst decisions which said corporations are people and can give an unlimited amount of $ to candidates. And here we are- billionaires buying their own government/ senators/ congresspeople and yes- their own POTUS…

Elon, you goofy. 🤪Crashing out, because you don’t want to pay taxes. Don’t want some oversight into all the government money and contracts you made off with. Don’t want anyone looking into exactly what the F you did with DOGE.  And whining about loosing an election. 🤪That’s part of democracy, bro. Welcome to America. This isn’t some South Africa back in the day 💩. You will get use to it. Sometimes you lose. Believe me. That’s what politics is. Oh. And. Watch the Elon Musk doc. Britain’s mobile phone network is really unfit for purpose. Particularly when doing what a MOBILE network is supposed to do — moving! I’m on @EE which is supposed to have the best coverage in U.K. - it’s awful! This isn’t an inherent problem with 5G. Other countries have deployed the same technology far more successfully. Opensignal ranks Britain LAST among 29 European markets for mobile network performance. Denmark achieves 226 Mbps average download speeds against Britain’s 84 Mbps. So what went wrong? 5G typically uses higher frequencies than legacy networks, with shorter effective range and poorer penetration into buildings and vehicles. Reliable coverage therefore requires sufficient mast density, capacity and overlapping cells to maintain connectivity during handovers. Britain hasn’t invested adequately in that infrastructure. Much of our 5G still depends on 4G architecture, while the closure of 3G has removed a legacy fallback. Add network congestion, patchy rural coverage and unreliable handovers, and the result is familiar: phones displaying 5G but unable to transfer data, connections disappearing on motorways and trains, and calls dropping mid-conversation. And where is @Ofcom? It proudly reports 99%+ outdoor 4G premises coverage. But that figure is based on predicted signal strength, NOT independently verified, continuous connectivity. Indeed, Ofcom’s own figures show that only 84% of UK landmass has predicted good 4G coverage from all operators. A signal at a stationary address is not the same as a usable connection travelling at 70 mph. Ofcom has overseen the transition to 5G and the retirement of 3G without ensuring that network resilience, capacity and reliable handovers meet the needs of mobile users. Why aren’t operators required to demonstrate real-world connectivity along roads and railways, with published measurements of dropped calls, failed handovers and data interruptions? We have confused the availability of a technology with the delivery of a service. A mobile network that cannot reliably maintain a connection while mobile is fundamentally failing its purpose. Ofcom should be held accountable.

I want to apologise to Allison Pearson for thinking that this insane post was written by her. And to Alex Phillips for not realising that she was its author. Though regular and honest readers of either of their posts will admit, I think, that it could have been written by either of them
We need to talk about The Telegraph One of the UK's oldest and most respected right wing papers. A broadsheet. A thought leader. Today - a political bloodbath with some of the most talented leading commentators of our day brutally axed before the paper veers left. What is happening is another leftist attack on Europe. Another pillar crumbled. Another institution taken over and destroyed Wake up. The long slow Communist takeover of Europe is currently on steroids

I read earler, with interest, that Halloween originated about 2,000 years ago from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in), celebrated in Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man. Of course USA USA USA monetised it to a shitshow of single use plastic sales.

Drone sanctions were applied overnight to the Kstovo refinery in Nizhny Novgorod oblast. They were so effective that the refinery looked exactly like Mount Doom due to the volume of fire and smoke, and 2 hobbits were seen approaching in possession of a gold ring.

While gas prices are up 39% since Trump started his illegal Iran War, Exxon’s profits are up 130%, Chevron’s are up 185% and Shell’s profits nearly doubled. Working families struggle while Big Oil rips them off. Trump’s response: “I don’t give a damn.” Beyond unacceptable.

Why is Donald Trump trying to kneecap Ukraine right now and force them to accept a terrible deal? Because Russia is offering business deals to Trump’s crowd, and Trump knows a corrupt peace deal will be harder to do if Democrats are in charge of Congress.

There’s a common perception that Britain is somehow an exceptionally high-tax country. And, judging by some of the comments here, apparently £126,000 is a relatively modest income compared with what Americans earn. But let’s get into the real world. £126,000 is approximately $168,000. That would put you in roughly the top 10% of full-time, year-round earners in America. And remember, America has some exceptionally high earners bringing up the average. You’re earning more than around 90% of the country’s full-time workforce. And the taxation. Take that same £126,000 salary and compare what you’d take home after tax in three locations: 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: £6,966 per month. 🇺🇸 California: £7,038 per month. 🇺🇸 New York City: £6,953 per month. Once you account for all the layers of taxation, federal, state, local and payroll taxes in America, the take-home income is virtually identical. The US has a much higher GDP per capita than the UK, but that’s because it has a number of enormous global companies and some exceptionally wealthy individuals. The US has extreme wealth inequality, far more so than the UK.
Calling £126k "an enormous amount of money" is crazy. That's like 180k USD. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how poor the Brits are.

BREAKING: In a major blow to Donald Trump, a federal judge has dismissed his $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch over its reporting on his Jeffrey Epstein birthday letter. The judge ruled that Trump failed to establish “actual malice” and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning he cannot refile it. The judge said Trump’s lawyers were “grasping at straws.”

🇬🇧Mary Ellis delivered a Wellington bomber. The ground crew searched it because they didn’t believe she was the pilot. They looked through the aircraft from nose to tail. She had flown it there. During the war, she was Mary Wilkins, a farmer’s daughter from Oxfordshire who joined Britain’s Air Transport Auxiliary in October 1941. Her job was to deliver aircraft where they were needed. That meant learning to handle very different machines, and then climbing into them and flying them across Britain. In her later recorded testimony, she described navigating delivery flights without radio assistance, finding unfamiliar airfields, and switching between aircraft types. The variety was extraordinary. Spitfires. Wellingtons. Mosquitos. Hudsons. Over her ATA service, she ferried around 1,000 aircraft of 76 different types to 210 airfields. Among them were 403 Spitfires. Then, in the summer of 1945, came something very different: the Gloster Meteor. She became one of only two ATA women to ferry Britain’s first operational jet fighter. Every aircraft delivery was a flight someone had to make before the machine could begin its next assignment. Mary made around a thousand of them. Mary Ellis died on July 24, 2018, at the age of 101. Let’s remember her. For more WWII stories, follow @Vanguard_WW2
