So insurance pro tip, if your home is getting a fortified discount for having the hurricane shutters (among other things), depending on the claim situation, you will be obligated to have used them and not using opening protection could potentially affect the claim payout. Get those bad boys on.

I'm tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas. I'm a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I'm rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life. But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. "No police, no prisons, no borders" is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE. If there were no police or prisons, if anyone in your neighborhood could do whatever they wanted, while politicians cheered on terror groups — would that represent PROGRESS to you? No, that would be a step back. Those are REGRESSIVE ideas. On the other hand, if everybody could see a doctor when they got sick, get a good, free education and breathe clean air — would that represent progress? Yes. Those are PROGRESSIVE ideas. They are NOT the same thing. And the difference matters. Some defend the far left by claiming they only want Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them. I want those policies, too! But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter. And these are terrible ideas. Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you. Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need "party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren't. And we are smart enough to know the difference. 💩

Mike Rowe says he visited a Texas data center and met three “debt-free” electricians under 30 making “north of $240,000/year.” All three have been “poached” three times in the last 18 months because the demand for electricians is crazy high. ROWE: “I was in Plano, Texas… got a tour of a data center.” “I ran into three electricians, all under 30, all making north of 240 grand a year, all debt-free.” “Now here’s the craziest part. All three had been poached three times in the prior 18 months.” “The shortages are so acute that the companies don’t have time to train. They have to poach.” “Great news for an electrician. But it’s a little weird for the economy overall.”

Never waste your suffering! Even in our hardest challenges, there is always something to be gained, whether it be strength, perspective, or growth. It doesn’t take away the pain, but it can give your challenge purpose. #quadriplegic #robertpaylor #paralyzedtopowerful

Absolutely horrified at what happened to @PeteButtigieg and his family. I am so sick of dirty, cruel politics and am truly deeply upset by the involvement of his children. It is wildly fucked up. This world has to do better.

The conventional wisdom on insurtech has been wrong for about a decade. The story that got funded was DTC. Skip the agent, sell direct, win on UX. Billions of dollars later, the agency channel still writes the majority of P&C premium in this country and is not going anywhere. The carriers know it. The reinsurers know it. The customers, when something actually goes wrong, definitely know it. The real opportunity was never replacing the agent. It was equipping the agent. The agency channel is undertooled, underbuilt, and undervalued by the people writing the checks. The work is hard, the margins are real, and the technology serving it has been a graveyard of half finished CRMs and rebranded ACORD forms. I have been running Portal Insurance through this whole cycle. I have watched the producer shortage, the rising E&O exposure, the carrier consolidation, and the tooling gap converge into a problem too big for any single agency to solve on its own. While we have built our own tools to compensate but nothing and I mean nothing compares to what we experienced when we signed up with Outmarket AI as a customer. This is why I invested in this round. Vishal Sankhla, Anshu Jain and the team are building the platform the channel actually needed all along. Submissions, automation, leverage. The work, finally respected. $17M Series A live this morning. The thesis is correct and the timing is right. This is the best piece of tech by two of the best founders I've seen in a long time.

California progressives are pushing for a tax on billionaires; so are senators like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. But as @mightyheaton explains, such programs don't work. Just ask France.

Want to know how ridiculous and awful Ins company and their PBM denials are? The insurance company that denies the claim, that is if it’s them and not a subcontractor like medica , also picked the network and doctors.   So they are saying the network, that they sold to plan holders as being great, isn’t good enough for them to trust enough to determine your care. And on top of that, they charge to appeal denials. Which is a problem for many people.  That should be illegal.  And on top of that 60 pct of plan holders have plans from self insured employers.  It’s the company’s money.   But the ceo has no idea that the carrier they hired to authorize care , may have denied life or death care.   They don’t know that for some amount of money they may be able to save the life or maintain the health  of an employee or their family.  Require all TPAs to inform the CSuite of all critical denials , same day  They Are Too Big to Care. Break Up Big Medicine.

Founders and capital allocators, you want to help? Do you want to turn this country around? Don't give money to smarmy politicians -- they will grinfuck you, then screw you and most importantly, they will waste your precious time. Just build for this ICP: A single parent in America... who has to work two jobs to make $80k a year... has two kids... wants to own a home... is in credit card debt... needs to provide a quality education in an uncertain world... and wants their family to be healthy. What is our industry doing for that parent? The AI industry is hated right now, because we focus on eliminating jobs, building data centers and the valuations of our companies. We need to get focused on solving three problems: 1. Education 2. Housing 3. Healthcare These are the most frustrating parts of being an American today... of being a parent. The majority of a domestic balance sheet gets allocated to these three categories, and it feels like every year you get less for your dollar. It feels like you're getting screwed, and everyone in Silicon Valley is getting rich -- and that feeling is reality. We need to build products that help people: -- Customized AI tutors for students (i.e., services like @brilliantorg, which @chamath and I seed-funded), home schooling platforms, marketplaces where parents can share the after-school burden. -- More homes, cheaper homes and better homes: Factory and 3D printed homes (we funded @blokable RIP and @ICON3DTech by @JasonDBallard is crushing) -- Healthcare needs to focus on lowering the costs of testing, wearables, sleep (@eightsleep @m_franceschetti ), equinimity (@calm go @tewy go!) and diet (go @ohalo go @friedberg!) These three also have the most regulatory capture, grift, fraud and corruption -- so we need the media to call that injustice out (go @nickshirleyy @CBSNews and anyone else chasing down the fraudsters). Thanks for coming to my TED talk. h/t @TEDchris

From earning respect across England, France, and Wales to captaining the USA at the @rugbyworldcup, Manoa built a career defined by performance and presence. He brought that experience back to Seattle and played a key role in delivering a @usmlr championship while setting the standard for those around him. His impact goes beyond results. I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.

The US needs 500,000 new electricians this decade. Apprenticeships take 5 years. Microsoft’s Brad Smith says it’s the #1 thing slowing data center expansion. The AI bottleneck isn’t chips. It’s the trades.
