My USPS stamp proposal for Barney Ross is under review. World champion. WWII Hero. His story deserves to be remembered in more than just boxing circles. I made a mock stamp of what it could look like. Check it.

Great news. Fenech was one of the best and holds a big win over Samart Payakarun- who is in my opinion the best ever all-around fighter.

📝 A statement from Jessie Fenech following Jeff Fenech's heart surgery: "Hi everyone, just a quick update for you all. Dad has come out of his major heart surgery which was a success, he is in recovery. Thank you for all your prayers. The Fenech Family." #ozboxing #boxing

We need to retroactively begin considering Gene Tunney an Olympic Gold Medalist. The Allied Games were in lieu of the Games due to the War.

Future World Heavyweight Champion Gene Tunney stopped Wolf Larsen in Round 7 of a scheduled 12 at the Pioneer Sporting Club in New York #OnThisDay in 1921. The NY Daily News reported that Tunney "plastered him with everything in the book" and floored his opponent multiple times while dishing out a "severe pasting" before the referee halted the clash to spare Larsen further punishment.

Muhammad Ali on Dempsey, Tunney, and Greb. 1969 Madrid newspaper ABC. "Dempsey, like Tunney, while champ, never faced a number 1 contender. For years, he ran from Harry Wills and would be scared to death whenever someone mentioned light heavyweight Harry Greb.”

I don't think Israel Vasquez should be voted into IBHOF, I feel the committee or whatever controls the HOF, should simply induct him & I think this approach should be used for fighters who have the merit but are in poor health instead of wasting time.

Besides Luis Firpo, not many could make Rocky Marciano's hands look small. Before armored trucks became widespread, one of Firpo's early jobs was delivering the daily deposits from stores to the local bank. He reputedly worked alone and without a weapon.

McCallum boxed like Hank Aaron played outfield. Willie Mays was flashier, but Aaron got the job done.

Don't leave out Jaime Rios. 5 foot tall ring marvel whose eye sight was so bad, they didn't let him drive. Style was part Emmanual Augustus-part Wilfred Benitez.

I finished mopping up on all the WBA-WBC era (1963-1983) world champions today. I've got about 50 files stocked up waiting to be posted. All the names in yellow didn't make the 3 notable wins requirement and will not be posted. Unless you want me to do a thread of them.

And it was just a slobber knocker of a fight. Just two young, tough, talented contenders battling it out.
