One of the cooler under the hood insights I’ve heard from a head coach at a postgame presser. We talk about the data teams have access to that we don’t. This is a great example of the level of detail that goes into setting a rotation and allocating minutes.

Knicks get back in the win column at the Garden vs. BK. Shamet led the way with 22. JB added 19, OG had 18 with 9 key 4th-quarter pts. KAT was scoreless in the 1st half but finished with an 11/15/5 double-double. Defense excellent again: BK shot 38%, 13 TOs, 90 pts, 11 in 4th.

One of the best plays of the postseason, and hardly anybody noticed because Jonny DeLuca made it look so easy! DeLuca's jump was 7.9 feet above average, which is elite. Statcast had it near 35% catch probability, TruMedia at 30%. Most MLB outfielders don't catch this ball because they can't get there in time. An outfielder with a weaker jump would have had to fully dive for it and could have been the play of the day!

Dominant third quarter from the Knicks, who finally started to look like the Knicks of old. New York outscored Detroit 37-13 in the period while keeping up the same defensive intensity they showed in the first half.

A team has hit in a baseball game 4,934 times this year. The Brewers’ 20.5% Whiff rate in World Series Game 3 was the 1,267th best mark of the season. Why are people losing their minds over this
Brewers last night: 16 swings and misses on 175 pitches / 78 swings (20.5% Whiff rate) Rays last night: 7 swings and misses on 119 pitches / 56 swings (12.5% Whiff rate) If the Brewers were cheating last night because of this, what exactly were the Rays doing???

Brunson 1-10, Knicks 6-23 from 3… and still up 1 on Detroit at the half. He's getting to his spots, the shot just looks off. Not worried about him and I’m sure it’ll turnaround soon. Hopefully everyone starts to find their shot. Solid half… shots just aren’t falling.

Quick Notes vs. DET: Alvarado out again. Rest of the bench healthy Shots haven't been falling: Brunson 39%, OG 41%, Mikal 21%, 32% as a team from three No Duren tonight. Big opportunity for KAT to put up numbers 0-3 start (all by single digits). Time to right the ship

This stat is not true and the discourse it's started about the Brewers 'cheating' is so painfully dumb Real stat: the Brewers saw 175 pitches and swung and missed 16 times That's a ~9.1% swinging strike rate. Their full season average was 9.6%. Very normal game
The Brewers saw 175 pitches tonight. They swung and missed a total of 13 times.

It was 16 whiffs, actually, and a team whiffed at 16 pitches or less in 2,232 games over the course of this season and the playoffs. baseballsavant.mlb.com/statc…
How is this possible? During last night's World Series Game 3 on October 26, 2026, the Milwaukee Brewers saw 175 pitches and only swung and missed 13 times. The odds of this occurring in a modern Major League Baseball game are incredibly slim, reflecting an elite contact rate of roughly 92.6% on swings. In today's high-velocity, high-spin environment, a typical MLB team averages a whiff rate of about 24% to 26% per game. Holding a Major League pitching staff to just 13 total swinging strikes over 175 pitches is a statistical anomaly, demonstrating a hyper-disciplined approach at the plate that propelled them to a dominant 10-1 victory over the Rays.

Much less talked about... The Brewers traded Peralta for what's now a very disappointing prospect return ahead of a win-now season and he will face them in the World Series when they themselves could really use one more reliable starting pitcher in their rotation
One of the stranger things about Mets Peralta discourse is that if they had at midseason traded Sproat/Williams for Pitre/Smith/Gill Hill, it would have been a good trade. Pitre is now the most valuable player in the group of five imo. And that’s ultimately the exchange for them.
