I'm sad not to be on the way to @ASCRM41 this week, but I'll be trying to tune into #CrimCon as much as I can. Best wishes to you all! Please e-mail [email protected] if you've a book idea you'd like to discuss or if I can help you with anything else. @CrimConOrg

It's been a FAQ this week, so just to remind all of our participants: 10 minutes means 10 minutes. We can't and won't allow anyone to go over, because that could irreparably throw off our schedule which could in turn wreck things for everyone at home.

We're going to be saying this a lot over the next few weeks: the 10 minute time limit for presentations is a hard cap, and we have to be very strict with it to keep everyone on schedule.

For others, treating this like a poster may make more sense, though we caution against using enormous walls of text. Others may want to eschew PowerPoint etc altogether and use their time to talk through their work without visual aids.

We want to encourage everyone to be creative with how they use their 10 minutes. Focus on the most important parts of your study, delivered in the most engaging way you can. For some, this might look like spreading your findings out across a lot of slides to tell your story.

Happy to help host/be backup. Also, had a thought this morning for possible pre-/post-conference session to be a half or full day writing retreat where each hr = 45 min write + 15 min checking in/chatting (i.e. zoom writing group session). Curious if anyone would be into it.

We've heard that some people think we're affiliated with or run by the American Society of Criminology -- that is not true. We're our own entity, independent of all national and regional organizations.

This project will be presented at this year’s @CrimConOrg. Stay tuned! 📚One of my favourite quotes from this blog is noted below.
.@oconnorphd, @DallHill2, Dr. Tyler Frederick & I are working on publishing a data quality paper based on the perception of #crimeanalysts. One key point that is echoed in this great piece is the necessity to tie the value of #crimeanalysis & data to our frontline officers. #EBP

Academics be like “I know a place we can talk privately,” & then take you to the hotel bar & grille where there are 300 other criminologists. 😂 In all seriousness, I will miss conferences this year, but am so excited about participating in 2 roundtables at @CrimConOrg.

Just submitted an abstract to @CrimConOrg which is being held online in November this year. The conference is accessible to all, in that it is free to present and to attend! CFP is open until the end of the month and you can submit here: crimcon.org/

Just a few reminders: 1) CrimCon is free to anyone who wants to participate as a presenter, free to attend, and free to view after the event. 2) CrimCon is not a pandemic replacement. We hope to be around for a long time.

We've been asked if we're open to different types of presentations, so just for the record, the answer is: If you think you've got something unique to offer that will be beneficial to our audience, why not? Send us a proposal and we'll consider it. crimcon.org/submit-an-abstra…
