If you are running a low-margin international eCommerce business (think Temu, but SME) with 8% mark on inventory and you can get an extra 1.5% by cutting out Stripe, your profit is up to ~20%. Merchants, naturally, will still use service providers. However the cost of service production is fixed and Stripe is taking % margin. This has made Stripe ultra profitable. But the cause of ultra profitability has been the regulatory friction which Stripe has been able to fight with scale. Stripe adds some good UX, but it alone is not that valuable. Now stablecoins remove some of this friction. Merchants, naturally, will still use service providers. But it's unlikely service providers can charge % on stablecoin payments, and it is more likely that the billing will be baked into the eCommerce package, along with other basic features in the basic package. With stablecoins, as they run on open blockchain rails, anyone can write a payment terminal and no longer require licenses. The staffing cost for "payment service provider" using stablecoins will go from the headcount of 10 to headcount of 1 - a solo developer. The best way to get adoption would be for USDT and USDC to get open source payment terminals and payment solutions to as many merchants as possible, make deals where those who pay with stablecoins get ~1.5% kickback or reduced price for people paying on stablecoin.
