🎉 The wait is over. Introducing CoinDesk's #MostInfluential2023.
This annual list (no, it's not a ranking) recognizes the people who, for the better, and sometimes the worse, defined the year in digital assets and Web3.
We recognize 50 honorees and entities, with the top 10 making an outsized impact.

Lighter told investors on its Q3 call it plans to file for a CFTC derivatives license in November, and $LIT jumped 19%

The largest remaining fud for ethereum:0x232ce3bd40fcd6f80f3d55a522d03f25df784ee2 is the looming unlocks
Vlad very clearly explains they are a non issue as
- There is no cliff. Most tokens get a huge 25% unlock on the 1st anniversary but LIT doesn't
- The unlocks are actually end of January not end of December as many thought
- They've spoken to the cap table and the majority are very long term investors that don't plan to sell
- For the small minority that want to sell, they already have large partners that want to allocate to LIT but can't because the current market isn't liquid enough. These large partners can simply buy out the vests from those that want to sell
Very good call, this was what we were looking for outside of the robinhood partnership and regulation stuff

Over 10K holders now, almost double what we had at the previous highs.
Early buyers have rotated out, fresh hands have stepped in, and the Chinese community is getting stronger by the day.

Lighter ethereum:0x232ce3bd40fcd6f80f3d55a522d03f25df784ee2 is showing local strength for the first time in a month or two which represents a change in character, and has flipped the 21ema for the first time since the downtrend started (pending daily close, of course).
The investor update call today addressed all of the most important things in the near future: integrations, CFTC licensing process, and the elephant in the room: unlocks starting in late December
The narrative has been they "lost the Robinhood partnership". This couldn't be further from accurate but still crushed momentum and was the last straw leading the final leg down of a ~50% drawdown peak to trough.
The team continues to ship with binary options and full options rollout on the horizon in addition to the more important CFTC/regulatory side.
@TrustlessState's question from the Q&A: "Given all the pre-engagement effort, do you expect the license to come earlier than the 180-day time window that the CFTC says?"
@vnovakovski: "we think a lot of the [pre-engagement] will make the process a lot smoother... CFTC has a lot of things on their plate so dont have exact timeline... but it's a fast moving team over there so we expect the process to be smooth"
