A stark new reality...
Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, says that passengers on the Titanic actually didn’t want to leave the ship for almost two hours after it hit the iceberg. Pavel Durov says we are in a similar situation: our ship has already hit the iceberg. We have already started to sink without even realizing it. He is talking about the ship of our personal freedoms. He says that personal freedoms have been eroded almost everywhere in the world, with very few exceptions. He has witnessed firsthand the methods governments use to suppress our freedoms and take away our basic rights. He has seen all the tricks: the PR tricks, the legal tricks, the political tricks, the manipulations, and the official excuses. The thing that bothers him most today is that some of the same tricks employed by authoritarian regimes in places like Russia, China, and Iran are now also being used in some Western countries. ————— Here are some key statements from Pavel Durov: “Thousands of people are getting arrested every year in the United Kingdom for social media posts.” “You say something politically incorrect online, you may end up being fined or spend some time in prison. In Germany, people get arrested and persecuted for insulting politicians online, thousands of people every year.” “You call a politician a bigot or a thief online and you can serve up to 3 years in prison. So, now people are afraid to use their real identities. People stop using their real names when they make comments online.” “The criminals will be fine. It will be the law-abiding citizens who will be put in danger.” “Last year, a French tax official was caught stealing the financial data of people who held large amount of crypto assets… you have a catastrophic rise in the number of kidnappings in France. Just in the first 3 months of 2026, you have over 40 victims of kidnappings in France.” “Another trick that has been used by authoritarians for decades. And now it is being increasingly exported from the East to the West. I’m talking about selective enforcement of laws. The way it works is pretty straightforward. First, you need to introduce a large number of laws. You need to overburden a certain industry with excessive, mutually exclusive, contradictory regulation. As a result, you make compliance impossible. Now you can treat every entrepreneur, every CEO, every business owner in this country as a criminal. But then the government carefully starts to choose who to persecute. If the business owner is loyal, if it complies with immoral, unlawful demands from the government, gives certain political favors, then the law enforcement system and the judicial system look the other way. But if the business owner decides to stand up for the constitutional rights of his or her fellow citizens, if they refuse to cave in to political demands from the authoritarian government, then the persecution comes in full.” “We cannot afford to have this ship sunk. There is nowhere to escape. In the past, dissidents from authoritarian countries could flee to the West. But if the current trajectory continues, in a decade or two from now, they will have hard time trying to understand whether they have already left their repressive homeland or they’re just entering another open-air prison.” “Those who are willing to give up their essential liberty for some temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ————— Which would you choose: essential liberty or temporary safety?

it’s actually insane to think how when elon was 31 he made $180 million from the sale of PayPal and he could have just bought a private island and spent the rest of his life in peace, without having to work another day instead he sacrificed basically everything trying to build the future. failed multiple times, almost went completely broke, but he kept going, spending the last 20 years building reusable rockets, electric cars, global satellite internet, AI, brain interfaces. basically the whole infrastructure for the future of civilization just to end up in a world where people are publicly calling for his execution, and getting applauded for it you don’t even have to like him to realize how completely fucking backwards the world has become

I used an AI for two hours and found a zero-day that would let a nation-state hack any server running stock Ubuntu. It was patched this morning. CVE-2026-109518. 🧵
🚨 BREAKING: A flaw in APT, the tool that installs software on Debian Linux, lets an attacker on the network tamper with a package after it passes verification and run code as root. The bug, CVE-2026-109518, sits in resumed HTTP downloads. APT can merge two different downloads when a redirect gives them the same address, and a man-in-the-middle can then alter the file after its check. Debian fixed it in apt 3.0.4, shipped to Debian 13 security updates on 4 November. Users should upgrade now. Per Debian's changelog, the fix is four words long. "Open target files exclusively."

A literal battle of the final bosses of grifting: Justin Sun: - Tries to buy Trump family political immunity with a $45M bribe disguised as a token presale - Gets his tokens frozen because you can't out-con a career grifter - Suddenly plays the champion of "token holder rights and transparency" on X World Liberty Financial: - Puts "100% American patriotism and free-market DeFi" on the brochure - Codes an arbitrary admin-freeze button straight into the contract - Instantly identifies as an Emirati shell company the second a judge walks in Nobody to root for here. Just grab the popcorn and let the two worst players in crypto tear each other apart in discovery.
Last night, my lawyers moved to sanction World Liberty Financial @worldlibertyfi for failing to disclose, until months into my litigation against the company, that it is a citizen of the UAE 🇦🇪 . #WLFI #USD1 For those who are new to this dispute, I was one of World Liberty’s earliest and largest investors.  In November 2024, I agreed to buy $30 million of $WLFI tokens under a Token Purchase Agreement with World Liberty, and I later increased my total investment to $45 million.  In April, I sued World Liberty, alleging that the company induced my investment through fraud and then unlawfully froze my tokens. My Token Purchase Agreement gives me the right to bring my claims in either California federal or state court.  I chose federal court. Federal courts can hear a case like mine only when the two sides come from different places.  Foreign plaintiffs like me can sue an American defendant in federal court, but foreign plaintiffs generally cannot sue a foreign defendant there.  For these purposes, a company like World Liberty takes on the citizenship of each of its owners, so a single foreign owner makes the company foreign.  In other words, so long as World Liberty and all of its owners were American, my case could be heard in federal court. The federal court’s rules required World Liberty to file a disclosure at the start of the case identifying every one of its owners and where each is a citizen.  World Liberty’s disclosure identified only one entity—World Liberty itself—and listed Florida as its sole citizenship.  Its lawyers certified that they were unaware of anyone else who needed to be disclosed. World Liberty then moved to compel arbitration, seeking to pull my case out of open court and into secret arbitration proceedings.  I opposed that motion, and my lawyers spent months and hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting it.  At a hearing in August, the Court signaled that it was not persuaded that my claims belonged in arbitration.  Instead, the Court ruled that certain of my claims should stay in open court, and certain claims should be sent to arbitration, and ordered the parties to meet and confer to come up with a proposed agreement on which claims stay in open court and which ones go to arbitration. Less than a week later, World Liberty suddenly “corrected” its disclosure.  Where it had previously listed only one member in its ownership chain, it now listed 22, and claimed citizenship in Florida, Delaware, Puerto Rico, and the UAE.  World Liberty now says that the federal court has no jurisdiction over my case, since its UAE citizenship means there are foreign parties on both sides of the case. The irony is hard to miss.  World Liberty’s gold paper declares that “[b]y design, World Liberty Financial is not organized offshore,” and that it is “an American, tax-paying, corporation that aims to bring DeFi to its rightful home—America.”  It promises a “US-based decentralized platform” built on “American ideals of liberty, privacy, and freedom to transact,” calls private, intermediary-free transactions “a core American value,” and boasts that “[r]ather than shying away from the United States, World Liberty Financial embraces the United States as the future CRYPTO CAPITAL OF THE PLANET.” World Liberty was proudly American 🇺🇸 when it was selling tokens.  It discovered its UAE 🇦🇪 roots only when it needed a way out of an American federal courtroom. World Liberty presumably always knew who its owners were.  Its lawyers claim that they learned about the company’s UAE citizenship only after they filed the original disclosure.  As my motion explains, if that is true, then either World Liberty’s lawyers failed to conduct appropriate diligence, or World Liberty did not give its lawyers a straight answer.  When we asked how this happened, World Liberty refused to tell us. Token holders deserve to know whether the projects they invest in are telling the truth, both to the public and to courts.  I am filing this motion to hold World Liberty and its lawyers accountable for what I believe was a misleading disclosure to the Court, and to make sure that the cost of World Liberty’s gamesmanship falls on them, not on me.  And after my sanctions motion is resolved in federal court, I will re-file my lawsuit against World Liberty in California state court. I will keep fighting for the transparency this community deserves.

Attacking non-critical consumer-facing infrastructure - like grocery stores - with pre-warned and limited scope cyber attacks is the best way to convince your population they need to harden their society. It's really classic Ender's Game - you only get to use the weapon once, it has to destroy the enemy completely. Real catastrophe is not spoiling meat, its multi-megawatt turbines that go beyond safe RPM, critical valves in chemical refining that report the wrong position, air traffic control networks. Destruction of hard infrastructure that is replaceable on a year-to-decade timescale. Like a water treatment plant, transformer station, airport, and so on. Food is the most high throughput thing in our society besides gasoline. It has a residency time of a few days on shelves, and so any total loss of inventory is recoverable on the scale of a week.
UPDATE: The European refrigeration cyberattack has now reached Italy and Romania, bringing the total to at least 10 countries affected across Europe. In Italy, several Coop stores in Sicily were hit, including at least three in Catania and one in Palermo. In Romania, at least six stores have reportedly been affected. Some affected businesses have yet to publicly disclose the incidents, meaning the actual number of countries and locations impacted could be even higher. The full scale of this cyberattack remains unknown. Countries affected so far: 🇸🇪 Sweden 🇧🇪 Belgium 🇱🇺 Luxembourg 🇪🇪 Estonia 🇮🇪 Ireland 🇳🇱 Netherlands 🇫🇮 Finland 🇩🇰 Denmark 🇮🇹 Italy 🇷🇴 Romania

"This is clearly how it ends. The machine just recursively optimizes its own weights" the paper's lead author: "I think so too. Not just own weights. Any other weights!" GPT-6 Astra edited 0.016% of Qwen3.5-0.8B's weights and took its math score from 7.9% to 48.1%, with ZERO gradients instead of fine-tuning, it traced the model's reasoning loops to one direction inside two layers and edited those exact weights directly it even wrote a Breakout network from scratch, no data and no training, that scored 517 while PPO trained for 500M steps scored 25 plenty of labs have talked about RSI, but this is the first real sign of it I've seen we're entering a very scary new era, AI is starting to improve AI
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math. It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training. We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵 Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math. rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-sp… github.com/RikiyaT/lm_und… huggingface.co/Qwen/Qwen3.5-0… huggingface.co/RikiyaT/Qwen3.…

For anyone saying they’ll never disconnect the internet in a worldwide digital lockdown due to a manufactured cyber attack because they need the internet. Uh, yeah. They’ll never disconnect it for THEM. For us, though? Per the WEF, we’ll need a “digital vaccine” to get back online.

something fundamentally broke in the market this week, things aren't adding up: - elon is winding down grok bot due to poor ROI despite having lots of available compute + demand - Sam altman reportedly slashed openai's valuation to $1.25T and cut the fundraise from $30 to $20B - anthropic's operating profit has now flipped negative due to massive compute bills despite overwhelming demand for their models. - Lumentum sold to Marvell despite having sold out its product till 2029 on record profits... - Intel is down a staggering 42% in 4 days despite supplying the #1 hardware needed to run ai agents - lenders are refusing to let neoclouds borrow money. if they do they're at extortionate rates. - every single company reporting record positive earnings has dumped (including Apple today)

When slowing down makes you faster...(& smoother...) ADB (Autonomous Decentralized Bearing) is a patented technology developed by Sosuke Kawashima (Coo Space Co., Ltd.) By introducing a small indent into the outer race of a deep groove ball bearing, the balls become self distributing & non-contacting without the need of a cage. Translation: the balls don't bump into one another so no cage is required, which then means sliding friction is virtually eliminated, energy consumption is reduced by over 90%, and no lubrication is necessary. That precise indentation I mentioned slightly decelerates and then accelerates each ball back to full speed as it passes over it. A small gap is thus created between the balls due to this change in speed. Any incidental contact between the balls acts as a restorative force, effectively transferring momentum between them and ensuring uniform spacing naturally. Pretty cool stuff (and so very simple) in other words. This technology is currently touted as being applied in deep sea & competition skate/bike/wheelchair cases, but seems like a prime candidate for any super low friction, demanding environment, and/or long life applications. I warned you all about this. They will be lying. The actual goal of the big AI providers will be to outlaw open-source and open-weight AI in order to create a regulatory moat around their business, and have some hope of earning out their astronomical capital expenditures. The claims will be about safety and equity, the reality will be a money and power grab. Brace for the bullshit avalanche that's coming.
🚨BREAKING: OpenAI is preparing a policy and PR blitz immediately after Tuesday’s midterm elections, Axios reports. As public backlash against data centers grows, it wants to rebrand them as “AI compute campuses” and push Congress for mandatory “speed limits” on the most powerful AI systems. It has been stockpiling proposals since August. OpenAI is also preparing for the possibility of Democrats taking the House and wants to shape the debate ahead of the 2028 presidential race. Its chief global affairs officer Chris Lehane told Axios: “AI is going to be the issue in 2028.”
