As promised, that bayou game I started building using @threejs inspired by the GTA 6 bayou scene is open source: github.com/Vheissu/emerald-b… has a living world and continues to grow. Alligators, missions, people fishing, other boats, day/night and more.
Imagine explaining to Alan Turing that 80 years after his work helped lay the foundations of modern computing, we'd be impregnating fictional Korean pop stars to save on API costs.
Philomena: Some people have been writing PHP for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?
Expert: No, software is constantly evolving.
Philomena: So they've been writing the same website for 20 years?
Expert: No, different projects.
Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?
Expert: That's not how software development works.
Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.
Expert: Right.
Philomena: Is PHP like that?
Lex Fridman interviews a PHP security researcher
Lex: My guest today discovered a critical vulnerability in PHP. What is a vulnerability.
Researcher: A weakness that allows an attacker to compromise a system.
Lex: But aren't we all vulnerable.
Researcher: Yes, but
Lex: Is love a vulnerability.
Researcher: We're talking about remote code execution.
Lex: Could an attacker remotely execute love.
Researcher: No.
Lex: Stalin executed millions.
Researcher: What does that have to do with
Lex: Do you think Stalin was happy.
Researcher: I have absolutely no idea.
Lex: Fascinating. We're 3 hours in. Let's talk about consciousness.
After 10 hours this is what Claude Code gives me running some file comparisons... literally the thing it was doing for an entire day. Wtf?

Today was my last day at PHP.
Unfortunately, the decision was made remotely by someone who wasn't even authenticated.
Geoffrey Hinton should have walked away. Nothing he has said has come true. Most of what he says won't come true. I think he's just lonely and bored to be honest. I feel bad for him. The industry he helped create has eclipsed him and he's lost touch.
Controversial, but we have never forced our children to hug anyone. We have friends who always tell their kids to hug someone hello and goodbye, we always just let our children choose. Doesn't matter if it's family or not. It's good to let them choose.
Elon: the birth rate is falling we have to do something about this

I've got a banked reset that expires in a day. Maybe time to use ultra and fast. Anyone got any ideas?
Why did everyone decide in the last 24 hours to try and take down the internet? I love Railway, I use it for a lot of projects including client projects. This is a massive PITA, but also par for the course. This is going to happen more frequently going into 2027.
An urgent notice from the Railway team

When I saw the future, the PHP haters were right.
Nothing is original. It happened to art. It happened tomusic. It happened to cinema. It happened to architecture. Now it's gaming.
When was the last time you heard a song that was truly original or saw a movie or a building that was unique? It is what it is.
Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros. and Kirby, is warning that AI could lead to a flood of unoriginal games.
Sakurai points out that Steam has gone from around 275 game releases a year in 2010 to more than 19,000 today
“AI can create games, but it can’t create something truly original.”
Sakurai also argues that originality means creating something players don’t even know they want yet.
He uses Fumito Ueda as an example, saying AI could imitate the style of games like ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, but it wouldn’t know what Ueda himself would create next.
