We are aware of a list circulating over the weekend suggesting significant cuts to various Met units and services, including reductions in TSG, Flying Squad, and Mounted units, among others. We want to clarify that this is not accurate.
While we’ve been transparent about the challenges posed by the anticipated budget shortfall, we continue to work closely with the Home Office and City Hall to ensure we can police London effectively.
We understand the concern such speculation can cause, and we’ll share details of any necessary savings with our officers and staff as soon as we’re able. Until then, we’d encourage everyone not to share unverified information.

PC Perry Lathwood, who was found guilty of common assault in May, has had his conviction overturned at court.
The alleged offence related to an incident in Croydon in June 2023 where a woman was arrested on suspicion of fare evasion.

If you are not guilty, you should plead not guilty.
If you are guilty, and there is strong evidence to show that you are guilty, you should probably plead guilty. Not least as you will get a significantly lighter sentence.
