If you see ads on our end and decide to block them, you are not pirating or stealing from us, nor are you being unethical in doing so. Ads would be shown in the hopes that you'd see it, not that it is a transaction, and if it was, then we'd have systems in places to confirm it.

You don't need to self-host, unless you want to make sure that there's always a backup of your hub, your and your members posts, etc, and make more of a super-closed-off/protected hub. Side note, you can also use your account from DEG Mods on this as well, logging in with the browser extension in the web version of DEN Chat, or export/import it into the desktop version. If you're wondering where this is available on, you can chat on browsers, or on desktop (Linux or Windows), and on phones but not as an app but rather a webapp.

We'll do more proper marketing for this later, as we confirm that this won't burn as the public (you guys) use it (which isn't our aim of course, but who knows). This is the first app/platform of this kind (discord/element/ts-like), where self-hosting isn't necessarily needed, easiest, and scalable (unverified), that's also censorship-resistant and permissionless. The easiest experience for new users is to use the desktop version rather than the web version, hit generate account, and you're set. Consider this an alpha btw. Side note: For those that'll ask about not being able to register/login with email and password, why you must use an extension or this keypair/keys/words things, it's because if we do that then we'd be able to delete your account, your posts, your hubs, etc. We try to make it as easy as possible, but that's the consequence of proper freedom: a tiny bit of inconvenience.

Payment Targets: You can now add all the different addresses people can donate to you, like PayPal, Pix, or anything else, tied to your profile. So people that appreciate your mods and want to tip you, they now have your preferred ways of getting the support.

One final post for this chain-post: Encrypted DMs: Enjoy sending messages to one another and nobody (including us) can snoop in on the conversation. Short post addresses: From around 137 characters for a post to 70 characters (less scary links now). Emulation tag: If your mod is for an emulated game not available natively on PC Mod for a mod tag: Made a mod, for another mod? You can now tag it as such and link to it Dependencies: You can tag your mod to indicate that it is dependent on other mods or software, mentioning said dependencies or linking to them. Mod jams: You now create mod jam events (same idea as game jams, but for mods)

We've added this point, months ago, among others, as part of the "Terms of use" for the discord/ts/matrix alt, that's being tested right, with a "I understand" button. Seems like this is a good time to share this particular point as a post. Feedback is always welcome.

With that said, we fixed a bunch of issues related to file uploads and with post publishing on DEG Mods. Opening mods while on the site should also be noticably faster now, and improved the image verification flow (so you'll know if the image host tampered with uploaded images).

A reminder that, so far, for the modding scene, DEG Mods is the only game mod platform that can't directly censor, while almost all others (if not all) can and will (and have) directly censored. This statement will be true for website domains, IDs, and soon for a discord alt.

We've did a bunch of fixes to the deg mods platform/site, which should result in better performance from general speed and less errors/failures in multiple areas, at least better than before. (Took some time from building the discord alt to fix a bunch of these issues)

With that said, a decent chunk of mods from Feb to March may have not been uploaded properly, as such, expect a fail downloading some of those mods in that time period, and if you're a creator, you may need to reupload again if some of your mods were effected (download to check).

If you're wondering about the discord/slack/element/ts alternative, about its progress, I'd say it's about 80-90% done, regarding a rough public release. If you're wondering why we're even doing this, it's because DEG Mods needs it (community, marketing, etc), and people as well
