On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault.
I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking.
She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police.

A spokesperson for Madison Square Garden has responded to Macklemore's claim that he was blocked from booking his "Free Palestine" show at the venue.
"We have some of the busiest venues in the world with extremely limited availability and he's not an arena level act."
Macklemore claims efforts to bring his "Free Palestine" benefit tour to the US have been thwarted by venue operators who have refused to host the shows.
In a statement released Friday, Macklemore singled out several major venues, including Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center in New York, Kia Forum, Intuit Dome, and Crypto(.)com Arena in the Los Angeles area, and Chase Center in San Francisco. According to the rapper, he initially "received available dates at these arenas through the end of the year," but those offers were withdrawn once the venues learned the shows would benefit Palestine.
"The doors were closed," Macklemore said. "The conversations were all different, but the result was the same. The shows were not going to be allowed to happen in these venues."

96% of Jews in Poland were murdered by the Nazis. That is genocide.
3% of Gaza’s population, mostly male combatants, died in the war they started. That is not genocide.

Richard Holden, Shadow Transport Secretary:
“These RMT militants who bankroll hand-picked Labour MPs do not care about better services, they do not care about passengers and they do not care about our capital city – all they care about is beating as much cash out of this weak piñata of a Labour Mayor and Government as they can.
They know Labour will cave to their every demand and their latest whim, because that is exactly what Labour always does. Labour hands massive pay deals and the unions come straight back, striking again and bringing the country to a standstill."

Bukele is going to prove that you can take 2000 mid-tier but utterly fired up troops and just solve Haiti. All the voodoo tough guy act falls apart when a tactically competent force shows up with a mandate.

I haven't been on this site for a bit.
But I haven't seen anyone share the photo the New Statesman staff staged in 2013 of Russell Brand as Christ, and themselves as his disciples. It seems to have been scrubbed from the web.
It made me angry then and it makes me angry now.

Today’s Guardian finds it "astonishing" that Russell Brand, convicted of one count of rape and three sexual assaults yesterday, was “embraced as a serious social commentator” when he returned to Britain in 2013. Embraced by whom, sorry?
The paper gives its own role in promoting brand Brand one single line, noting he had already written columns for it. Yesterday’s big Guardian piece on TV insiders said "Brand’s case has led to difficult questions for the BBC, Channel 4 and the production companies that worked with him." Hilarious...
On an unrelated note Russell Brand's 137 written contributions to the Guardian are still online - 17 of which are after 2013 and which concluded in February 2015.
Long after the Andrew Sachs voicemails, the paper ran his opinion on Thatcher the day after she died, ran a GQ awards column over a large chunk of the front page in September 2013, and ran his column blaming Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death on “extremely stupid drug laws.” Not to mention the fawning praise from Owen Jones and the entire Labour establishment, including the now-Prime Minister...
Today’s piece also sniffs that critics lavished praise on his memoir, quoting its tale of Brand trailing a classmate 200 miles to Wigan as an early warning sign.
That particular book was serialised in the Guardian.
In October 2014 the paper put on a ticketed Guardian Live event, with Owen Jones interviewing Brand. It was broadcast live from the Emmanuel Centre.
That day Jones penned a piece in the Guardian attacking the “all-too-smug, seen-it-all-before snottiness” aimed at Brand. Two months later George Monbiot named him a hero of 2014, calling him “the best thing that has happened to the left in years”.
Alan Rusbridger, the Guardian's editor from 1995 to 2015, claimed in Prospect Magazine in 2023: "I only met him once, when he was writing a popular football column for the Guardian, along with the occasional commentary piece." Funny, seeing as the football column was pre-2010 and there is a photo of them snugly on the sofa together at the Guardian’s morning conference in August 2013...

Yesterday, I gave you the cynical view. The radical progressives and their Islamist allies may have made only modest gains during the midterms on Tuesday, I argued, but the election of Abdul El-Sayed and fellow travellers crossed a threshold. History is littered with examples of small bands of fanatics who used a larger, moderate party as a Trojan horse. Beware.
Indeed, the most relevant example is under our noses. In 2015, Donald Trump was a reality-television punchline, a former host of The Apprentice whose candidacy was greeted with sniggers. Within a few years, he had taken over the party of Lincoln and Reagan, and those who refused to bend the knee were driven out.
Yes, his star is now on the wane; Tuesday may prove to be the moment the true America began to reassert itself. But look at the stupendous damage he has wreaked in the meantime! Rampant corruption; contempt for democratic norms; alliances ruined; Vladimir Putin indulged. Once upon a time, his movement was on the fringes.
So the dangers are real. But today, I’d like to do something you rarely find in the media, and test the opposite case. America is not lost, I will suggest. The midterms were a victory for good sense, and the bipartisan relationship with Israel can be salvaged. Let’s see how that position stands up, and work out where we stand...

A cow takes grass, which you cannot eat, and hands back:
- Beef, a complete protein wrapped in the fat your brain is built from
- Milk, the only food on earth designed to be food
- Leather, a coat that outlasts the person wearing it
- Tallow, for the frying pan, the candle and the soap
- Bones, for the broth, the handle and the field
- Liver, kidney, heart and tongue, the densest nutrition in the shop
- Manure, which grows the next field of grass
All of that from a plant that would go through you untouched.
No machine on earth can do it. No laboratory has come close. Grass in one end, a complete human diet out the other, and the thing builds soil while it stands there.
It runs on rain and sunshine. It needs no factory, no patent and no delivery lorry. It repairs itself, and every couple of years it makes another one.
And we are told to get rid of it to save the planet.
While the almonds are flown in from California and the soy is shipped in from a field that used to be Brazil.
The stupidity has a carbon footprint of its own.
