First, I wasn't expecting this degree of reaction, so thank you to everyone who has been touched by this story.
Second, it was brought to my attention last night that this photo has some AI adjustments, which I hadn't seen. Sorry, I didn't realize my niece used a tool to remove people-which I should have.
Third, I write books and am currently in a Super Dad contest which I am not willing to spend money on to buy votes. But you can vote every day, if you feel like supporting me and my family in this.

About ten years ago, we took in a rain-bedraggled girl who had befriended our daughter and been over to our house a few times. We fed her, warmed her up, and got to work getting to know her.
A few months later, after she was pulled from the house she and her drug-addicted mother lived in (with several other addicts), we tracked her down and brought her in as a foster daughter. About a week before Christmas. She was 13. The aim was to help her be safe and healthy and happy while her bio-mom tried to get clean. Again.
Her bio-mother died of heart failure several months later.
Before long, we were talking about adoption and began the process. We finalized adoption right before she turned 15.
The next years were challenging. That's all I'm going to say about that.
But two days ago, I officiated her marriage to her good lad.
She's come a long way. Proud of our daughter.

Nine days left in the Kickstarter campaign. We've revamped the project page a bit, to make it more image-forward for the final quarter.
This week, we'll share more information about the launch event. I've got guests lined up, and a band.

Davefoid is here with a PSA: as long foretold by the ancient oracles, High Low Brow swag has dropped.
To allow you to revel in and share your love of fine literature that is also fun, the Witchy War Kickstarter campaign now includes add-ons of a High Low Brow mug alone, a High Low Brow embroidered cap alone, or both together with a $5 discount (the add-on is called "High Low Browed").

Holy cow, @TheKJA's crowdfunded project to put the Saga of Seven Suns back into print, including deluxe editions, is a BLOCKBUSTER.
I expected nothing less from this award-winning, multiple-times-bestselling writer and bighearted writing teacher, but it's great to see.

We are at the halfway point in The Complete Saga of Seven Suns! And already so far beyond all my expectations. Thanks to all my backers and supporters. backerkit.com/c/projects/wor…
So I've never been to Paris. The fires and tear gas and Antifa-style rioting bother me, but in an impersonal way.
But I have lived in Milan. The sight of rioters and fire on the Piazza del Duomo make me angry.
This is not the map. This is just an icon for the menu. The real map is in process now. And the add-on to get your copy of the map is available on the Kickstarter campaign.

On The Complete Saga of Seven Suns, our Terra Incognita deluxe slipcased set sold out within days...but three backers have canceled, so I have ONLY THREE remaining. If you missed it, you can add on to your pledge $250—first come, first served. backerkit.com/c/projects/wor…
We're getting the map. The team is already at work on it, extracting geographic details from the text and assembling appropriate fonts, etc.
The next stretch goals is interior illustrations. Depending on how we close in the last few days, there may be multiple rounds of interior illustrations. When we unlock those stretch goals, we'll also unlock a high-end add-on--you'll be able to be the model for one of the illustrations.
