I don't care how many hours you've played.
I don't care how many trophies you've earned.
I don't care what difficulty you play on.
If gaming makes you happy, you're doing it right.
We need to stop gatekeeping the hobby we all love.

Trauma taught me to focus on everything that could go wrong.
Healing taught me to focus on what I can do next.
One mindset creates helplessness.
The other creates momentum.
When life gets chaotic, ask yourself: "What is one thing I can do right now?"
Start there.
You’re not broken, you’re meant to heal.

Narcissists are trolls. They live to provoke a negative response out of you. That’s their joy. That’s what makes them feel accomplished.
Now you might be thinking, “well it just sounds like deep down they’re hurt and desperate for some compassion.”
Yeah, we’ve tried that. Showing them humanity or compassion only seems to make you a bigger target. 🤷🏽♂️
I think peoples issues is less of a Eurogamer problem, really. It's a byproduct of how we've become conditioned to see the likes of 60 as a 'negative' review score. If you used the 1-100 scale fully, 60 is a positive score.

I always find it unusual when someone mistakes my random memory for intelligence.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the compliment. But being able to recall some pointless information or trivia that I heard one time 10 years ago is not the same as being 'smart' 😅

It’s incredibly selfish to enter someone’s life, recognise how loving, genuine, and full of light they are and then disrupt their peace because you haven’t dealt with your own issues. It’s one thing to be healing, to have fears or to carry wounds from your past. None of us are perfect and we all have things we’re working through. But there’s a difference between being imperfect and making someone else pay for the pain you refuse to confront. You don’t get to seek comfort in someone’s kindness, enjoy the way they love you and then treat their heart carelessly because you don’t know how to handle your own emotions. Someone else’s love is not a place to hide from the work you need to do on yourself. If you have no intention of showing up with honesty, consistency and sincerity, leave people alone. You never know how hard someone has worked to find their peace and you have no right to make them pay for wounds they didn’t cause.

A useful thread.
I experienced dealing with a covert narcissist. The explanation makes sense to me general strategy here I feel like works in practice.
It does take some self-restraint to avoid 'fighting' against lies etc. but trust time to do it's thing and expose reality.

Covert narcissism is the version that causes the most confusion and takes the longest to name. The covert narcissist does not present as grandiose or dominant. They present as sensitive and chronically misunderstood. The grandiosity is present but inverted: the covert narcissist is exceptional in suffering rather than achievement, in how much they sacrifice and endure without recognition. The self-centeredness beneath it is equally total. It simply arrives wearing different clothes.
I heard some devastating news from a friend of the family.
I really don't know how some people do it, what they've already been through is difficult enough.
Seeing good people go through such pain is incredibly frustrating, they really deserve a break. 😔
Thank you Discord for suddenly reminding me I'm old with the new badge 🤔
Do I even have any online accounts that are under 10 years old anymore... Sheesh.

Establish boundaries with your community.
I had to have a hard talk with mine a few days ago about this very topic. Rules were being bent and broken more frequently by newcomers, but even more so by longtime members. The teasing banter we would have started going too far and turned into hurtful ridicule. I would get talked down to about my game choices and the things that made me happy like singing on stream or talking about a passion.
Past me would have let this continue in hopes that it would stop on it's own, but it never does. And I'm so happy that streaming has helped me stand up for myself more. Just because we are entertainers doesn't mean streamers are dancing clowns for their community to use as a punching bag. And a lot of the time, if you do not set those boundaries with them, they won't know anything is actually wrong and correct the behavior. It also can lead to new members seeing it's okay and joining in if gone unchecked.
It's easy to establish boundaries with people you don't know: You can be upfront about it and if they try to push past them then it's easier to cut them out of your life, but it's much harder to do this with those you care about. You're scared of people leaving or not accepting you and your boundaries for what they are. But are those people really worth it? Doesn't it prove to you that they aren't actually there for you if they don't respect what you're trying to convey to them?? This is YOUR SPACE and you should feel comfortable in it enough to stream as your best self!
The people who care about you will adjust because of just that: They CARE. And again, sometimes it's a blindness to them what their actions are doing to you until it's brought to their attention. At the end of the day though? I feel so much better talking to my community about how I felt because we've jumped right back to having a great time and my shoulders aren't being weighed down anymore.
Don't let the source of a lot of your joy as streamers become the source of your dread. And if you can, talk to your mods about all of this too so they can better protect you in the long run. It's scary, but talking to your community about your boundaries is important and will do you a lot of good in the long run.

The twist of Expedition 33 is constantly and willfully misunderstood by so many.
It's not "it was all a dream" as if nothing actually happened or didn't matter. It's quite the opposite actually. In Act 3, you become aware to the fact that the game world is basically another dimension brought to life by a supernatural form of painting.
The whole struggle of the ending is that real sentient life has been created, but it is also actively harming those who created it. What is more valuable, the created or the creators? Or, put another way, is the art or the artist more valuable to us?
The themes of the game are very powerful, and the questions asked are deeply thought provoking. This is one of the main reasons Expedition 33 won a record number of Game of the Year Awards. If you didn't get it, I'm truly sorry.

If you’re not willing to tell the truth, don’t bother telling the story. Half truths and carefully chosen words can make anyone look innocent, but the truth always finds its way to the surface. I’d rather hear an uncomfortable truth than believe a beautiful lie. Honesty may hurt for a moment, but deception destroys the trust that takes years to build.
