This was not about harvesting olives.
It was about harvesting headlines.
Brad Lander’s latest stunt is nothing more than a calculated political provocation.
Lander traveled to a foreign country, deliberately entered a restricted security area, and participated in an unauthorized activity without the required coordination.
What makes this stunt even more outrageous is that his own team contacted Israeli representatives in the United States ahead of his visit and was explicitly informed that proper coordination with the relevant authorities was required.
He chose to ignore those instructions.
At a time of heightened security tensions, Israeli security forces have a responsibility to protect lives, prevent dangerous incidents, and maintain public order.
Had anyone been injured as a result of his reckless political theater, Lander would undoubtedly have been among the first to demand that Israeli authorities intervene and provide protection.
Brad Lander came looking for a confrontation. Now he is pretending to be its victim.
An “uncoordinated olive harvest.” This is insane.
Is @bradlander a provocateur? Absolutely. Did he come looking for a spectacle to burnish his far-left credentials? Without a doubt.
Was the IDF justified in removing him from an area where an uncoordinated olive harvest was taking place? Yes. But did doing so play directly into his hands? Also yes (just google his name and see the number of articles all over the world).
We can argue all day that Lander was wrong and Israel was right, but that misses the point. In his political circles, he is now the victim of Israeli aggression, which is exactly the image he came looking for. Israel should have known better than to give him what he wanted.

For the first time in @metrotimes history, we’re no longer seeking comment from a candidate’s campaign because of repeated lies and bigoted attacks. That candidate is Mike Rogers, whose campaign keeps targeting Abdul El-Sayed’s Muslim faith. metrotimes.com/news/mike-rog…
A thing I know on some level but becomes a shrill screeching whine when I get a locally semi-viral joke tweet is that conservatives are just not funny.
Like holy cow MAGA people have zero sense of humor. SAD!
This times a million. I got to see the models used in Star Trek TNG and DS9 as well as the Borg Cube and there ia a reason why these shows shot in the 80s and 90s still look so damn good.

Thank you for highlighting the situation at LSA. It has been especially harmful due to the way LSA teaches children: outdoor learning leveraging the natural beauty of the U.P. This unique, beautiful experience spoiled by greed and failed by government.

Damn there is some kind of big hazmat related evacuation in Toledo!
Sterling Pipe and Tube did some kind of chemical release and they aren’t saying what it is.
Currently the evacuation is a mile radius around Sterling Pipe and Tube. They have even shut down the railroad
This is a bad sign, because people stop paying their car note last, for obvious reasons. Auto loan delinquencies going up mean people have tried everything else to get by first and are now at risk of losing their ride.
BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters.
Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards.
And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

Always cool to see someone you've interacted with and who is good at their job reach this level. David oversaw local history materials at CADL (Capital Area District Libraries) in Lansing for years, and was always eager to help you find even the smallest things.
The Michigan Department of Education has named David Votta as the next state librarian for the Library of Michigan. More: wlns.com/news/michigan/michi…

Weed, used by adults and regulated, is fine.
Gambling is not. Grouping them together is weird. It's SO damn easy now to destroy your entire life, financially and related fallout, gambling.
You have to be really, really, ridiculously dedicated to ruin yourself on pot alone.
The effects of the legalization of vices like weed and gambling are provoking a backlash—even in Massachussets. To meet the moment, liberals must update their laissez-faire attitudes, says @ehaspel:
