Creating Wide Isolation Moments & Positional Rotations. Ft. Arsenal | #AFC We were excellent at creating wide 1v1s and 2v2s for our wingers to exploit yesterday. White and Madueke were brilliant on the right. A common mistake opposition teams make is committing two defenders to a wide player, and we exploited this beautifully. → Noni would often draw two defenders → Allowing White to receive in the half space or make an underlapping run in behind. → We saw a similar mechanism for Timber's goal against Lille. Hincapie, Rice and Eze (later Tzolis) rotated beautifully to drag defenders and create similar isolation opportunities for the winger. → Against Prague's m2m structure, Hincapie and Rice would regularly rotate while maintaining clear separation from Eze. → This helped manipulate their markers and create space for Eze to receive in isolation. Both Eze and Madueke are strong in take-on situations and completed 7/12 dribbles between them.

Beating an aggressive m2m press. Ft. Arsenal | #AFC Zubimendi, Merino, Gyokeres and the wide men were superb in allowing us to escape pressure yesterday. → Merino was often the deep outlet for progression, drawing the press → Zubimendi would advance further up the pitch with the wide men remaining as wide as possible and Gyokeres isolated 1v1 vs a CB → That created tons of central progression space. It was a consistent and effective theme that allowed us to effectively break out from Prague's aggressive m2m structure. This is why Gyokeres is a suitable player for this team. Not discrediting Havertz at all but both offer two very different skillsets and allow us to play in different ways. Zubimendi was also brilliant in this press breaking system. #Arsenal
