JUST IN: President Tinubu has approved a N70,000 monthly transport support for public service workers across all levels for six months, beginning in November 2026, to cushion the impact of rising living costs.
The approval was one of the resolutions reached at a conciliation meeting between the Federal Government, led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, and the leadership of the NLC in Abuja on Tuesday, following renewed pressure from organised labour over the cost of living, workers' welfare and outstanding agreements.
The government also approved the payment of peculiar allowance arrears, effective from May 1, 2026, in three equal monthly instalments beginning in November.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), established for sole control of railways, is offering private operators access to its approximately 4,000 km rail network for a fee, provided they supply their own locomotives and rolling stock.
Kayode Opeifa, managing director of the NRC, said the corporation grants what it calls track access, permitting private and private companies to operate on railway infrastructure built with public funds.
“You can bring your train, bring your locomotive, bring your wagons, bring your everything. We will run it on it. You just pay us your money. We don’t want to run the trains alone,” Opeifa told stakeholders Tuesday

I read political miscalculation and regret from his facial expression. And he's thinking: 'but there are better ways, why did I hastily and emotionally go this route?'
And he stares at him again and says, "just look at this..., this...! what da actual hell.."
