circling back to this because i continue to see a lot of absolutely digusting remarks. not everyone who lives in these areas is a “rich celebrity”. far from it.
aside from the working class “regular” everyday people, the elderly, children, etc. i know a single mom with 3 kids who’s apartment she rents burnt down. new parents who worked their butts off to close on their dream house in december only to have it turn to ashes a month later. friends who lost everything & who’s young children no longer have a school to go back to. a friends’ elderly parents who’ve lost 60+ years worth of memories. the list feels never ending.
to say things like “good, they deserve it” or “who cares, they can go to one of their other 4 mansions” is absurd & cruel. like dev said- please, “have some f*cking empathy”.

Every statement made by celebrities who have lost their homes sounds like this:
“This is where our child took his first steps.”
“This is where our life started together.”
“We raised children and grandchildren here.”
“Every corner had a special memory.”
“This was where we envisioned growing old together.”
It’s not just things. Big pools. Perfect terraces. Five bedrooms. Designer clothes.
These are people. Who lost everything. Who lost rooms filled with memories and mementos. Wedding dresses. Photo albums. A safe space for their children. A gathering place on holidays.
I will never understand the “but they’re rich” mentality. Have some f*cking empathy.
