This is the most heartbreaking part of the #CEA strike - teachers who on any other year would be working their butts off to make this year special, engaging, and productive for their students are instead fighting for them on the picket line. We all need to pick a side. #ImWithCEA
I should have my classroom ready and be eager to start the year. Instead I am picketing. I will be on the line, sign in hand, my students In my ❤️

My 2021 REA keynote on the biological roots of resilience engineering is now available. Shows how biology selects for future adaptive capacity (which seems impossible), & we do too. youtu.be/OwdMgEf2MsA

Research Scientist, Sam Malloy, along with @docrayo, @dm_kline, @gregggonsalves and others published a paper on a method to provide more information to policymakers to target testing for COVID-19 and curb transmission amongst unvaccinated individuals. battellecenter.osu.edu/story…

Wouldn't someone viewing this be more interested in a comparison with the percentage of white students with degrees? Because isn't more about the disparaging difference between the two populations? #7700 #ISE5760

Explains a lot: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: there must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” Frank Wilhoit 3/22/18 crookedtimber.org

Once in college, a professor begged me to stop putting jokes in my footnotes because it was totally inappropriate for academic papers. So I stopped, but now I think the real problem was none of my footnotes were as funny as this one:

Misinformation and conspiracy theories will kill more Americans. Urging #SinclairBroadcasting local stations @wsyx6 and @fox28columbus to NOT air Plandemic, a “documentary” so egregious it was banned from social media platforms. Such “news” has no business on our local media.

“When you see a workaround, don’t ask “how could they be so stupid to do things the obviously wrong way?” Instead, ask “what are the properties of our system that contributed to the development of this workaround?” Ignore @lhochstein’s flip of question at your own peril.

Doing my part to make sure your feed is saturated with Portland. Yes, Americans, this is all hard to handle. Yes, it’s coming all at once. Yes, you will be tempted to turn away. DON’T. Thanks, @AlanaKinrich, for directing my eyes ...

CDC just updated their duration of isolation guidance. The test based strategy for discontinuation of isolation is essentially gone. Time based strategy is 10 days for most and 20 days for severely ill. #COVID19 cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nco…

False dichotomies! Not yes/no to masks, but when/where. Not open/closed economy, but how to open safer. Not #COVID19 either overblown or disaster; it's a deadly pandemic that also causes mild illness. Not health vs. economy. Protecting health is the road to economic recovery.

To all the people resisting, for whatever reasons, wearing masks, that resistance will not only increase spread of #Covid19, put people's health and lives at risk, but also will cost billions or trillions of dollars in economic damage due to extending/requiring more shutdowns
I’m not sure of everything that is true or not (but I have my suspicions), but West Point cadets are not currently on campus, it is in a State of Emergency, and they SHOULD NOT be asked to return to campus for graduation. Please RT.
BREAKING: “Mr. President, they did NOT ask you to be there,” West Point grad @Will_P_Goodwin says. “You put your ego ahead of the safety of our future Army Officers. You’re undeserving of the office.” Trump says he was invited. He was lying about that. This needs to be canceled.

"I'm OK, don't tell Mom and Dad, they'll worry." This is Kious Kelly, a registered Nurse & Nurse Manager at Mt. Sinai hospital. He was a frontliner in NYC. That's the text he sent his sister after his COVID-19 diagnosis. He lost his battle today 💔 A HERO KNOW HIS NAME! 😭
