Utrecht University @UniUtrecht in the Netherlands has withdrawn itself from the World University ranking @THEworldunirank provided by @timeshighered. As this has generated quite some reactions - praise, questions, some doubts, I want to provide some context. Hence a thread 🧵1/16

I just tested it to make sure I'm not crazy on a new device on iOS 17, and from first visiting HeyDATA.org, through Gumroad/Apple Pay checkout, all the way through initializing and installing. The ENTIRE process to get to the point of having a conversation with DATA installed on your device where it knows your calendar? 10 Minutes. Exactly. And 3 minutes of that is waiting for the output of HeyDATA.org :P I'm so proud of how simple the process is for new customers now!

The head of one of the top political donors in the country has been touted as a future Senator, while the Liberals he would join back him in on a major debate. It's high time we shine a light on the murky world of lobbying and political donations. smh.com.au/politics/federal/…

Still doubling down. Wow. No clinician I know believes the current system or level of funding is working. We all said that. We are all still saying it. Yet instead of working together this vendetta continues. A sad day for patients & workforce. theage.com.au/politics/feder…

Another major problem with pharmacists prescribing drugs, is that a very important principle, is those who prescribe drugs should not sell them. It’s why doctors should not prescribe and also sell antibiotics etc. Will we now let GP’s set up their own small areas to sell drugs?

There is a reason why we have always separated the prescribing and dispensing of medicines. If pharmacists dispense the very drugs they are writing a script for, it’s a massive conflict of interest. Pharmacy prescribing also makes combating antimicrobial resistance much harder. – at Melbourne, Victoria
There's growing pressure to allow pharmacists to prescribe medications for common illnesses as Victorians are forced to wait hours, or even days, to see a GP. To discuss, @Rebecca7Maddern spoke with @RACGPPresident. 7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

There are very vexing issues in Medicare right now. Sadly. There is a continual erosion of trust. Its deliberate because there are careers to be made & fortunes to be made on the back of the Medicare carcass. Most Drs value their integrity above all else. Don’t fall for the BS./1

Brief thread on that "masks in schools" article in @nejm. It's a very well done article that I think many people have not actually read... 1/N

It has, in fact, been bipartisan neglect. No avoiding that fact. Also, the freeze was started by Labor so rhetoric is not enough to show your commitment to sustainable, equitable access to healthcare.
Replying to @Mark_Butler_MP
*except that it has not just been 9 years of neglect & underfunding, has it @Mark_Butler_MP ??

didn’t provide one for my area. I work parttime because it protects me against burnout (been there, not going back). And today I read that GPs are accused of being greedy whinging fraudsters. Before you say “oh we didn’t mean you”, tell me, which GPs exactly do you mean? #justagp

Also suggesting some oncology treatments are wasteful for dying patients. I’d say that’s a decision for a patient and their family. Not a lawyer.
Medicare fraud of up to 30%? Have doctors lost their credibility? If it is fraud why no criminal charges? shorturl.at/bdpGP There is another side to this important story that must be told. Doctors are refusing to provide needed treatment. @brookmanknight @DrMukeshH
