Yglesias actually crushes Hasan here.
“The Matthew Yglesias of 1963 would have been telling [JFK and LBJ] don’t touch this civil rights bill. It’s unpopular.”
I thought this was one of the more fascinating and important exchanges with @mattyglesias, where I challenged him on how far politicians should defer to polls on huge moral issues, and he pushed back on my analogy.

Mehdi conflates bill approval with protest approval. "This civil rights bill" was popular in '63. It had +16 approval (54-38) by Aug. '63 & +30 (61-31) in Jan. '64 before its June passage. Desegregation was generally popular w/ >+30 support for SCOTUS anti-segregation rulings

The whole Cheesecake Factory thing is such a pre-2016 nostalgia trip. I almost forgot this is what political discourse was for years, manufactured rage about beige suits and Obama maybe being too fancy. The whole thing might as well be scored by MGMT.

Watch the chat when the "they/them" hits, hasan groans and they immediately think that he thinks its antisemitic so they start spamming that its bad, antisemetic and dogwhistly, then hasan immediately starts making excuses for it and the chat changes their opinion immediately. Scary little hivemind he has goin tbh.

Way to tell us you've never canvassed, lol.
A canvasser would typically knock 100+ doors in a day. With 70+ canvassers (you don’t know a precise number of canvassers??) and 2500 doors knocked @digitalgroundg volunteers knocked only 35 doors each.
I guess @WhickTv was too busy doing self promotion to actually knock doors

The post omits that this was a Swing Left "Ground Truth" deep canvassing event focused on longer conversations and training rather than max volume; DGG reported 19% contact rate and @WhickTv posted about knocking doors there.

The Hasan strat of peer pressuring people to not hang out with someone don’t like.
This reads like she wanted him to leave the internet and ruin his career as an apology.
hi everyone, i want to clarify some things about what i said on stream yesterday.
1) when he was first caught looking at paywalled, deepfake content of female streamers, it seems people forgot that the specific page shown on his stream was of me.
i didn't say much at the time because i was so uncomfortable, publicly humiliated, and i didn't think it needed explaining because it was so obviously wrong.
2) i appreciate that he spent thousands of dollars helping remove ai/df content (3000$ of which was offered to me specifically), but i've had to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars towards that same effort. regardless, no amount of money undoes what happened.
3) i'm not trying to cancel anyone or be the arbiter of who can do what. i'm simply sharing my feelings about something that publicly happened to me, and the ways in which it's affecting me today.
as he's become more involved in events and with people close to me, i've grown particularly uncomfortable. as far as i know, no one has really checked in with the women affected about how it makes them feel. other people forgiving him is their choice, but it doesn't mean i can't share my perspective on it as well.
one thing i've seen happen far too often is the rewriting of history, particularly as it pertains to issues like these, so i prefer to stand my ground so the narrative doesn't get twisted. hope this clarifies things!

Organizing group movies together actually seems like a really healthy way to experience online connections, esp. during COVID. Might be one reason why the @TheOmniLiberal's community has been so supportive of so many people in the post-COVID world. They've been good friends to me
When I profiled Destiny in 2019, a Twitch streamer who at least then was streaming for 16 hours a day, I interviewed his audience. Many of them told me they had no other friends, and occasionally digitally socialized by organizing group movie streams together motherjones.com/politics/202…

The Blue No Matter Who discourse just needs to stop altogether. Some libs and some progressives do it, some don’t. These generalizations are worthless obfuscations. And this complaint coming from people who never practiced the principle to begin with is ABSURD lol.

This is your brain on anti destiny snark. Even obvious bait and sarcasm doesn’t pierce the “DESTINY BAD” brain fog
Replying to @Kafkaesquire
Seriously man, this should be your wake-up call.
It's incredibly embarrassing.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Pure contempt for salt of the earth Americans, for whom Motel 6 is an institution where memories are made. It’s this exact smugness that shows the disdain the GOP has for “flyover” country.

Clay Travis claims The Cheesecake Factory was a childhood luxury. Except it didn't open in Nashville until he was 26.
@Timodc and @PabloTorre investigate the curious case of his restaurant nostalgia:
“We are now swift boating Clay Travis for Cheesecake Factory stolen valor.”
