A student tells us they want to become an engineer. We encourage them to aim high.
Then we hand them a science lab where every step is already decided, every procedure is written out, and there's almost nothing left for them to figure out.
There's a place for structured lessons. Students need foundational knowledge, examples, and practice. But they also need opportunities to apply what they've learned in situations where the answers aren't already laid out for them.
What if students had to design part of the experiment themselves? Decide what evidence to collect? Figure out why something didn't work and what to try next?
Those experiences give students a chance to discover what they're capable of, sometimes in ways we never anticipated.
We spend a lot of time encouraging students to believe in their potential. We should spend just as much time creating opportunities for them to explore it.
Yolanda Renee King, the only granddaughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, is voting for the first time, and she has a special message for you.
Her grandparents fought for the vote alongside Fannie Lou Hamer and John Lewis. Her parents, Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King, carried it forward. And now? The baton is in her hands, and ours.

Some seasons ask for a little magic, and the best kind is made from the gentle things you already carry.
You donβt need a perfect month to stir something good into it. A little gratitude, a little patience, and a lot of softness toward yourself go a long way.

A new month is just another gentle invitation to begin again.
You donβt need to have everything figured out to step into November with hope. Let kindness, patience, and small joys set the pace for the weeks ahead.
