Tesla first took deposits on the 2nd-gen Roadster in November 2017. Standard deposit was $50,000 ($5k card + $45k wire); Founders Series required the full $250,000 upfront (capped at 1,000). Founders alone raised roughly $250 million. Total from all reservations has never been disclosed by Tesla. Production is now targeted for 2028; no cars have been delivered to original depositors yet.
