Even if Biden's decision to step down was the right one, the public way it played out within his own party still feels gross.
"Haven't you people ever heard of closing a gd door?"
I wish Democratic leaders had shown President Biden this level of grace in the weeks BEFORE he left the race. Publicly shaming and systematically hobbling your own candidate (and sitting president) is an ugly look, whatever the party.
Damn, this cult is sad:
"Helen said President Joe Biden tried to call to console the family after the shooting, but she wanted none of it [...] She said the family has not heard from Trump — but is steadfast Biden isn’t welcome."

Sad & understandable that many reflexively suspected the Kumquat Caligula staged the attempt. He's just that despicable to all but his base. But in the wake of death & injuries, I'm dismayed to see Biden folks still seriously arguing it. Leave baseless theories to MAGA.

Thanks to the quick action of the Secret Service, I am glad to hear former President Trump is safe and wish him a speedy recovery. We can disagree on politics, but political violence of any kind is wrong and antithetical to the core American values we believe in.

When right-wing scum tried to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer, Republicans made excuses.
When a lunatic beat Paul Pelosi with a hammer, they made jokes.
And when Trump sent a mob to attack the Capitol, they made up lies.
Don’t lecture us about condemning violence.

I’m shocked and saddened by the shooting at former President Trump’s rally and grateful that he is safe. As @POTUS said, there is no place for political violence in America and we must all condemn it.

In this horrible moment, encouraged to hear President Trump’s team indicate that the former president is doing well.
An entire nation must speak with one voice today to completely and unequivocally reject all political violence.
A near-death experience can fundamentally alter a person's outlook. They might reevaluate what's really important and change accordingly. Some even channel a renewed appreciation for life into selfless service.
May all that be true today.
If it had been at a Biden rally, Repub Congress critters on X wluld be screeching "staged!" and "fake news!" all over X.
