BREAKING: The U.S. Space Force has selected SIX commercial companies to provide satellite tracking and surveillance capabilities that can be rapidly expanded during a military crisis.
The companies selected for its Commercial Augmentation Space Reserve (CASR) are:
1. Anduril
2. LeoLabs
3. Slingshot Aerospace
4. Intrack
5. EOS (Australia)
6. NorthStar Earth & Space (Canada)
The program gives the Pentagon access to commercial systems capable of detecting and tracking satellites, monitoring suspicious orbital maneuvers and identifying debris or spacecraft breakups.
Modeled on the Air Force's Civil Reserve Air Fleet, CASR is designed to let the military increase its use of commercial space capabilities during wartime without having to build and maintain all the infrastructure itself.
The six companies have received initial operational contracts, with additional providers and capabilities expected to be added over time.
The Space Force is also considering satellite communications, launch services and spacecraft tracking and command as future additions.
Contract values were not disclosed.

Most of the market is still pricing post-quantum security as a future problem. The national-security clock is already moving, and the expiry date on current encryption is already running. The position taken before the standards are written is the one that compounds.

The lock protecting payments, signatures, and navigation was built for a computer that does not exist at scale yet. NSA’s CNSA 2.0 is the national-security clock. Northern Europe logged 123,000 flights disrupted by jamming and spoofing. Boeing flew four hours without GPS on quantum sensors.
Communications. Navigation. Detection. The stack the market is still pricing as a slogan.

Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland, explains on Fed Gov Today why his state is betting on quantum. Life sciences, IT, aerospace and defense: what all of those industries have in common is quantum, and the need to move at the speed required to compete and win.
That is the reason for the $1 billion Capital of Quantum initiative. Not to win for quantum's sake, but because it will serve as the core enabler and the foundation for everything else, and because an investment in Maryland is also a larger investment in the national security of the United States.
IonQ was born at the University of Maryland and is headquartered in College Park, at the heart of that ecosystem. And the Governor says it himself:
"We're so proud of the work that IonQ is doing. I mean, the first publicly traded pure quantum play. It's really remarkable."
