Ron Baron asked why telcos should keep their spectrum, a public good, when they can’t meet demand:
BARON: “How are telcos ever going to meet demand for the service with the infrastructure that they have? And if they have spectrum, for example, which is a public good, why does the government, why would the government allow that to continue to be the case when there’s a need for a lot more capacity than they could possibly provide?”
MUSK: “Yeah. Well...”
BARON: “Should we pass that question?”
MUSK: “I think SpaceX will be able to get very far with the spectrum that it’s acquired. But, you know, at a certain point, if we’re able to make much better use of the spectrum than, say, a legacy telco is, we could just acquire that legacy telco and use that spectrum, 10 times more effectively.”
