Some good book news to end the year: The Middle Daughter is a finalist for the Townsend Prize (previous winners include Alice Walker and Ha Jin). I'm delighted to see my friend and colleague, Peter Andrew Selgin on the list too #blessed #grateful

"My duty was to enact Africa. I pulled no stops. I made the clients wear a colorful dashiki. I gathered them in a circle and encouraged them to rid themselves of their old personalities." Fiction by @EcOsondu. guernicamag.com/enacting-afr…

Enacting Africa

“Jambo!” my client greeted me, over-cheerfully. “Jambo!” I hailed back, slightly accentuating the pitch of my voice to match his high-octane enthusiasm.
