“the internet isn’t real life” stopped being broadly true a number of years ago, but this website specifically has gotten so catastrophically bad that basically nobody on here is worthy of moral consideration so we can all just yell at each other without worrying that it matters
goddam it is so fun to roll around in the mud on this website sometimes. everyone has permanent brain damage just from being here it’s like wrestling with an endless stream of out of shape dogs

it's Justice For Ivy Wolk now and forever in this house just so we're clear
“Every possible -ism and -phobia and moral impropriety has been ascribed to me since I began my largely pro-bono career as an internet girl,” writes Ivy Wolk.
In a new essay, the 22-year-old comedian and actor reflects on the way her dark thoughts about her own self-image are interpreted as “soulless edgelord fare” — and all the times she’s been canceled since she started posting her comedy online as a teen, including when children once decided en masse that she was a “whorish foil” to a famous friend of hers.
“As much as I wish for anonymity or a slate wipe sometimes, I am grateful for the perspective I’ve aggregated and the ways in which I have been challenged never to abandon my beliefs and my unbounding love for other people,” Wolk writes. “It cannot harden me, it cannot isolate me from community, and it cannot remove me from public life.”

it remains so so funny that CollegeHumor began as a low-budget, frequently mean sketch channel for edgy 20-somethings, and has become a wildly high-budget, play-it-safe improv platform with the most Care Bear audience imaginable
last thought on this before I hit mute and go to bed. if everyone who like this tweet had followed me I would have 2/3 of my previous following before I got hacked :( peace and love

I don’t think content for that care bear audience *shouldnt* exist, but i find the audience annoying, and mourn the loss of the kind of art collegehumor used to make! i don’t want to watch kill tony, and i wish there was a platform that paid comics for being edgy but not hateful

the notion of “dropout-friendly terms” being harry potter houses kind of says it all, doesn’t it
lotta people getting mad about this as though I said “dropout sucks shit and I hate their comedy” rather than “here is an objective truth about dropout’s business strategy and I don’t like the kind of person that strategy is designed to target”
when the revolution comes everyone will be ludovico’d into watching Going Down With Ella Yurman as a part of their glorious reeducation

As someone who forced myself to watch your show for a few months I gotta assume whatever you think is unfunny has gotta be great because that show was the most boring thing I ever saw.
you can maybe argue “edgy comics tend to soften/write different material as they get older and more mature” more generally, but re: dropout specifically this is just not true. I went to their improv show at the kings theater 2 years ago and was adrift in a sea of 16 year olds
there is woke 1 everywhere for those with eyes to see
