I just had to have this "Schooner Bag" for myself and of course ended up purchasing a bunch of them. It's a really cool and unique item and I don't think anyone but me has them for individual sale. $25, FREE SHIPPING. Purchase link in the next post.

We probably need *longer* mortgage structures. At today's labor cost, a big brick house is going to be well into the million plus range to build. But that might be fine amoritized over a 200+ year lifespan. We need some financial innovation here.
Why did we mostly stop building brick homes? This house was built in 1846. It looks better and will probably last longer than most new homes.

The response function to various technologies across cultures is really fascinating. Some societies adopt certain technologies rapidly. It's like a key in lock, as if this particular piece of tech was specifically designed for it. Perhaps there are "shadow techniums" - technologies that exist implicitly, formed by the specific shape of a particular civilizational culture. The result is that when a particular innovation is introduced, it feels entirely natural, as if it has it had always existed - and indeed, in the sense I am discussing here, arguably it has And just as two puzzle pieces can be jammed together without being perfectly fitted, so some technologies feel awkward in certain cultural contexts. They never get fully digested. There's a positive and negative to this. Social antibodies to technology can be healthy. You have a natural herd immunity to the worst outcomes. But if a technology is wholly native, it can burn like wildfire through a virgin forest. There's nothing to stop it. It only burns out once all the timber has been consumed I think some Asian countries might be like that with the screen and the phone and the app. Whereas these things haven't produced the same level of acceptance in the West. They feel a bit like a foreign object within the body politic. Like any such, it generates an inflammatory immune response, and ends up ultimately rejected East Asia - especially China - has (so far) won the 21st century. But there can be downsides to winning (same was true for Europe and industrialization, which otherwise feels like a phase transformation just waiting for the West all along)
Asian countries are entirely one shot by smartphones, Which means as a result they will all be one shot by AI content. Governments are also fine with it as it keeps all these mofos apathetic and just sedated. Even African countries are starting to be impacted by this by the way, On YouTube there is now a massive cottage industry of Nollywood AI slop that has the uncles and aunties all hooked on it from day to night. AI content has already massively won, and this is before video intelligence is even truly too cheap to meter which will make it even more ridiculous. It’s over, just use it for distribution and to profit from the NPC goyvilles of the world.

Blue city in a Red state with a permanently deadlocked federal government that can't pass anything too weird either way would suit many people quite well.
What everyone wants is permanent Democratic executive rule circumscribed by GOP legislatures and initiatives.

New Orleans and Santa Fe have the greatest ratio of population to general aura/fame of any American cities.
There are cities in Southeast Asia with 5+ million people that the average American has never even heard of. But go anywhere, and everybody knows about little ole’ 350k population New Orleans.

At some point, people like Sr. Richard Burton studied very hard indeed.
I don't like this false patriotism of saying that the west is powerful because we don't do rigor in school. No. You're wrong. Rigor is of supreme importance. This modern kumbaya special snowflake lack of rigor is heresy. I want my kids reading homer in greek, doing calculus.

The abundance trap dictates that if global cuisine exists, you are starved not to have it. If youth sports and extracurriculars exist, your children are deprived if not enrolled. If the SUV, the bedroom for every child, the orthodontics, the early interventions, the international travel exists, etc, etc... In the modern age, lifestyle creep is inevitable, socially enforced, and legally mandated. And the cost is tremendous: Mom must work, and there simply must be fewer children. The ancients gave their children to Moloch to bring the rain. We are doing the same at an industrial scale and drowning under his terrible abundance.
The only people benefitting from he availability of the entire world's spices and cuisines (which we are constantly told is a wealth beyond compare for which we should be endlessly grateful) and snack foods (which are given to your children by your community at every available chance such that they are rarely hungry for a real meal) are the childless. Let the supply chains collapse and what's for dinner will be your staple grain, meat sometimes, and seasonally available produce. Mommy stress decreases dramatically. Thank ye the Lord for this supper of milk, oats, and cabbage yea and Amen.

God can and will be present anywhere, yes, even at the church on the left. BUT past a certain point it starts to look like people are pushing the limits on purpose "Do not put your Lord God to the test"
I think people majorly under-index on how much of the decline of modern Christianity can be solely attributed to its complete and utter jettisoning of aesthetic sense.

In many ways I have the personality of a poor man and I don't find it stressful to take care of young kids.
Per the 2026 National Parent Survey, Dads living below the poverty line are more likely than anyone else to say they find parenting young children "not very" or "not at all" challenging.

Even if it were somehow politically plausible, there isn't any agreement on how to weight traits. How bad a negative is high myopia? How about mild autism or poor 400 meter time?
Eugenics is bad for the same reason command economies are bad: because centralized authorities are shit at making the necessary sort of long-range judgement calls

Bootstrappism is a pure upside belief, IMO. Yeah I know I’m a BOOMER, but someone who believes it is gonna consistently take what the defense gives him, regardless of where he starts or if the belief itself is even true.

none of these guys realize that they have no choice but to start at the bottom. We can wish it wasn't so, but!

Without God, Art quickly withers away. We might build a big factory or highway but no more cathedrals. Likewise, cultures that eliminate Art soon find themselves losing God.

There is Japan A and Japan B. Westerners associate Japan with Japan A, which includes minimalism, Zen Buddhism, appreciation of handicraft, manners etc. etc., but there is Japan B too, loud, chaotic, kitsch, cluttered, sexually explicit and also kind of "3rd-world".
Nope. I’ve never seen a nation that loves extremely bright neon white lights as much as Japan. Pics are avg living rooms. Luxury hotels can give off very wrong impressions.

If you really want to harm someone, convince them that they "have time." That is the worst advice. Some people do end up having time, but that generally results from living like you didn't have time. The person who is still vital at 55 was living urgently at 21.

Strictly speaking, there is no "Right" in America. A true Right in the historic sense would be Elitist, Hierarchical, Martial, and likely Imperial. A movement based on the material interests, tastes, and worldview of the proletariat cannot by definition be of the Right.
